Hannes looking relieved during his death makes sense when you consider how much he despised himself for not confronting the titan that killed Eren’s mom when he had the chance. Now that he died fighting it he probably felt relief that he made the right choice back then by saving Eren and Mikasa instead.

He didnt want to get crushed by Annie ^^

Yeah Ymir was in season one, mostly only during the Christa and Sasha potato scene. She was also in the line up I think, but she was mostly in the background. Just like how Annie was in the background for season 1 part 1 till part 2 happened.

The subtitles don't do Hannes' death justice. Eren says "you're still as useless as you ever were", which initially makes you think he's referring to Hannes, when he's actually talking about himself.

They said it before in season 1 about why titans go after titan shifters. Apparently it’s because they’re basically bigger humans, so more for the titans to eat. So thats why the titans were attacking Reiner / The Armored Titan. Also, make sure to watch the end credits sequence for season 3 episode 12/ episode 49. Its really cool 😉

back in the day i also binge watched this season and i honestly think it's the best way to consume it because the amount of insane cliffhangers in it would've killed me if i'd have had to wait for each episode weekly, i'm sure of that. i also do a whole binge whenever i rewatch as well, it's really just the type of non-stop action & non-stop reveal season where stopping is not really an option, it's so damn enjoyable even on a rewatch. considering how between s1 and s2 there were 4 freaking years a lot of people thought back in those days that the studio made a misstep in waiting for so long and kinda letting the hype die down, but as soon as the season dropped it was just so strong and solid that even the 4 year gap couldn't touch it. it's honestly one of my fav second seasons to a show and i thoroughly enjoyed your reaction to it!

Also, just wanted to say in another comment that the reason they didn’t transform before Ymir was cause they would never expose themselves unless they were about to die, which was not the case. They were mostly just stranded. There was still plenty of time to stall and wait to see what happened. More importantly, the beast titan was their ally as Reiner stated later. They were never in much danger at all.

The Ymir-Christa-Connie centered episodes has good many breadcrumbs of Reiner's identity. - him consoling Connie & being on the backfoot reg Connie's mom titan - implies he knows the secret of the identity of titans ( that they're humans ) - with Ymir - he figured out Ymir, clear... but it's a red herring... (literally & figuratively damn it lmao). Reiner understood 'herring' , something found only in salt water bodies, meaning Ymir figured out Reiner as well. - then the obv giveaway with Bertholdt's 'warrior' reference, which confirmed Bertholdt's secret identity as well. (provided one remembers Annie's words)
