Today we are going to be riding the luxury sleeper train, the Cassiopeia, and enjoy the Northern Japanese Culture and Food! (Seafood and famous wagyu!) We visit Morioka Prefecture, home to many famous temples, shrines, and food!

If you're saying Alabama's laws say people there are not law abiding, respectful citizens, then you're also insulting every other state in the United States. Can't say as I appreciate that.

👍son, gave yr dad the more comfortable bed, this time you bring your dad (i remember you brought yr mum on 1 luxury train) you make them so happy to have a son who cares for them. The food on the train n restaurants so creative decorated n yummy. The building arch is very beautiful, scenery is awesome. Thank you, i enjoy watching this video. Awesome humour too 👏👏👏

The Tempra shrimp looked delicious that is one of my favorite foods. I always wanted to ride on a train but never got the opportunity. I enjoy your videos so much it is nice to see how other countries do things. The lounge coach is impressive. But the sleeping accommodations appear rather old and the cost is astronomical!!! For $1800 you could travel in Amtrak's most expensive accommodation across the entire U S. Or, take the Canadian across Canada: 4 nights and 4 days!! Of course, your trip included tours.

It looks old because it's retro. It's a nostalgic trip back to the era of "real" sleeper services, and Cassiopeia was one of the last services.

Where are you seeing amtrak tickets for $1800 for two people? That's $900 a person. Super cheap compared to amtrak from what I saw when I decided I was going to ride the train across country after watching these videos 😂. I also think even with the retro it's still far superior to what the US has to offer.

The Cassiopeia was a sleeper train that ran 1,200 kilometers between Tokyo's Ueno Station and Sapporo Station through the Seikan Undersea Tunnel. In March 2016, with the opening of the Hokkaido Shinkansen and the Seikan Undersea Tunnel becoming exclusively for the Shinkansen, Cassiopeia ceased regular service. Seven years have passed since then. Unfortunately, the equipment of the train seems outdated.

I really miss this train. I had a chance to ride it from Tokyo to Sapporo a couple of years before it was stopped. It was so enjoyable. I am so glad to see they are reviving it in a different format.

Cool trip. Your dad's filming was good, guess he's been watching and learning from the pro(you). In time you'll treasure trips you drag your parents on. Both of mine are gone now, my mother when I was 24(my birthday no less) and my dad when I was 40(2021). Food looked fun and beautiful...but someone would have had to pry me outta the onsen. Thank you for always bringing us freeloaders on trips. This broke girl appreciates it :)

This was fun! To be clear though, the dango that Solo Solo san bought is NOT the same as the “flying” dango in Genbikei gorge. The flying dango, Kakko, is the BEST I have ever had. You can buy it at the shop that runs the flying line over the gorge, but what our friend bought is different. This is familiar territory. Ichinoseki is my partner’s home town. If you want more autonomy, you can just take the shinkansen to Ichinoseki and make your way to Chuson-ji (Hiraizumi) and to Genbikei gorge via local transportation. There is also a local bus to dramatic Gaibikkei gorge with it’s singing “gondoliers”, which I highly recommend (though food options in Gaibikkei or not so good as remember; pack a lunch). Lots of good restaurants in Ichinoseki though. There’s brewery in an old kura and a mochi restaurant (I assume they are still there). Sunaba for a unique take on soba, and more. Thank you Solo Solo san! We really enjoyed this.

What a great trip, second time on the Cassiopeia, and this time with your father which having great skills of video capturing. Ah yes you enjoying Premier League, right? Overall great train, great room, great food, great onboard experience, and lastly great experience during the tour. Bit curious, why the trip back home using Shinkansen than Cassiopeia?
