Pharmacology- Pharmacology is made up of two main words- ‘Pharma’ + ‘Logy’ in some books there is Pharmakon in the place of Pharma, but to make you better understand we have made little changes. Pharma is related to drug or medicine and logy means- to study. So if we merge these two words together, this will become- PHARMACOLOGY.
“To study the complete life cycle of drugs as per pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic profile is known as Pharmacology” now again we have got two new words- Pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetics.
Pharmacodynamic- Pharmacodynamic is a study of drug’s effect on the body so we can say it’s a study of- what does DRUG do to the BODY. Tips- If you want to memorize this and clear the doubt between pharmacodynamic and kinetic then use one tips-
Pharmaco Dynamic- What does DRUG 1do to the BODY2. Means is Drug is in the first line. (D of Dynamic and D of Drug is in continues mode)
Pharmacokinetic- “What does BODY 1 do to the DRUG 2” we have simple interchanged the BODY and DRUG to make a definition. And as per the definition, our body responds to any drug by giving ADME effects.
1. A- Stands for - Absorption
2. D-stands for - Distribution
3. M- stands for - Metabolism
4. E- Stands for- Elimination

2- Study of body physiology
3- Study of pharmacokinetic
4- Study of pharmacodynamic
5- Study of toxicology
6- Study of Therapeutics
7- Study of Pharmacogenomics
8- Study of pharmacovigilance
9- Study of preclinical trials
10- Study of clinical trials
11- Study of forensic study
12- Study of disease and their treatment including- bioavailability, posology, etc

HRitik Vijay MBBS Guru We usually divide routes of drug administration that produce systemic effect in Enteral or Parenteral. From Greek Enteros = Intestine and Para = Beside. Thus either it passes through the intestinal tract or it avoids it. Although in many books sublingual is given under enteral just because they are taken by oral route but in many good book it is clearly explained that it does not go to intestine (It goes only if we engulf it) sonits para+enteral. Rectal route also by pass most pirtion of intestine and absorb at local site. This point is b confusing for many students.
