Just bought a Midea 35 pint model. Compared to the Kenmore I bought in the 90s this thing is quiet, doesn't pump a ton of heat into the house and uses about half the amperage on the low fan setting. Love it.

@@Upforthejourney it’s a great dehumidifier. We were surprised also how quiet it was compared to the black one we have running in the garage. It travels nicely since it collapses into itself.

We are very happy with the 20 pint cube model for traveling and the 50 pint to for the storage shed. It’s hard to believe the shed gets around a full 5 gallon bucket daily. It doesn’t seem like there’s that much moisture in the air.

You did a great review. I Purchased that large Midea black one. I must say it works great takes all the moisture out of my basement apartment it is a little bit on the noisy side but the humidistat is accurate it cycles off its cycles on and I could run the hose from the pump if I have to, I like having that option. Plus did I mention that it has Wi-Fi capability with the phone.

Great review! Funny how the 50 pint Midea and 20 pint Midea are same units as Danby. Just the name is different

@@RadarRoadWarriors I picked up the Danby 50 pint model and noticed several Canadian retailers, offering the different brands doing same thing. One model many brands, usually made in one location

I need one to dry out my Lincoln that has been leaking all winter...Its been pretty much raining in the poor thing and as soon as the warm weather hits My wife and I will be stripping the interior out to fully detail it, a good unit will absolutely help get the moisture out of wherever we cant reach...Especially behind the dash and the A/C unit in it, while I work on other things on the car I'll seal it up nice and tight and let the thing run overnight...I have a camera system to watch over it...just in case

Jay, With enough airflow, a good dehumidifier and enough time, it sounds like you should be able to dry out the moisture. -Steve

@@32jcs the 20 qt removed all the moisture from the windows and throughout our 41’ RV. When we first used it, we put it in our bedroom for a day, then rotated to living room until it cleared out the big issue. Now we just keep it in our living room.

Does this device have an autostart-when-power-comes-on-again setting? I would like to connect it using a smartplug so I can programm the smartplug for the cheaper hours. Is this water usable for other purposes then just dumping? Would you drink it in emergency cases?

@@titilant Yes if you plug it in or turn the smartplug on, it will start and continue where it was. However I did buy the qlima version

Very good comparison video. Do you have any idea on the off/run time percentage of the Midea 20pt once the humidity is down to the set level?

Thanks Mike, I haven’t tracked it’s time off once it’s at the set level but I would say it turns on twice per hour once it’s maintaining the level. -Steve

@@MikeJordanUnCamplicated I would estimate 15 minutes of run time when it kicks on. It varies by the ambient humidity also.

Regarding the rv, I have a 38ft long one. Should I put a dehumidifier in each room? Or one good one in the middle?

We have a 41’ RV and keep it in the middle. If the back bedroom doesn’t seem to be getting as dry as we would like it, we’ll put the dehumidifier in there for a day or two and then move it back to the middle of the RV.

Beware - this Midea dehumififier is basically Chinese junk. You will have a sensor error or a bad compressor within a year. I've gone through two of these things to the tune of over $500.00 in two years. I operated these units exactly to recommendations. They just stopped working. Customer service told me to set the unit in the bathroom and run the shower at a very high temperature to steam the room up to "reset the sensor". This did not work. Since they have just a one year warranty and it is too expensive to get repaired, you are looking at buying a new one every year. In fact, Midea customer service finally told me to just buy another one......

Larry, thanks for the insight and sorry you’ve had bad luck with them. We’ve had our cube for a year and it’s still working great. I’ve seen lots of great reviews and your situation is the first time I’ve heard of someone having issues, maybe you just got 2 bad units. -Steve

Backup use, air to water generator! Why buy water, when you can make it everyday, in your RV!

they are junk..I've had 2 fail one within warranty the other 2wks past. Midea service is A1 and replaced the out of warranty one but these are not reliable. They work great at first but fail when you least expect it. They ice up from coolant/compressor failure. They overtime create more and more hot air before they begin to ice up then they're junk
