SIR I literally struggle to fathom the direction of your 10V, I Think the rotation needs to be from the positive side of the source of EMF. This will make your Vth=0.8V instead of 46/5. THANK YOU

Sir please can can you explain why you didn't add the 2ohms resistor when calculating for the vth in the same loop and how you got 46/5 . I think it should be 8.9v rather but thank you for your teachings

Taking a look at the circuit diagram, the only loops that current flow through is the first and third loops. There is or there will be no current flow in the middle loop because is an open voltage source. Remember Open means there can be no successful flow of current in that loop. In that case, the 2 ohm resistor you’re talking about, will have no current flowing through it hence, you cannot write a KVL equation including it. Always remember V=IR I hope this helps you in your future analysis of circuit related problems.

please with the first example you solved on the thevenin.... when calculating for the Vth you used 2 ohm and the 3ohm resistors there was another 2ohm resistor but that one was ignored ? please can you explain that to me ?
@kinemarc
@kinemarc Жыл бұрын
Looking at the loop which contains the 2 ohm you’re talking about, you’ll realize that that loop was open and that no current flows through that loop . So basically, you cannot write a KVL equation without a current flowing through the resistor. i.e., V = IR

Please, why didn't you consider current coming from 12V together with that coming from 4V when you were finding Thevenin's voltage in question 4???
@kinemarc
@kinemarc 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Bernard, I guess your question is why didn't I consider the current produced by the 12V but considered just the 10V's current. This is why........If the 10V produced a current for instance i, the 12V will also produce a current i' but this ( i together with the current i' will join or will add up to be just a single current) this is because the current from the 10V and the one from the 12V won't be able to go through the Vth loop since that side is an open circuit. so the the only thing it can do is to add up to form a single current say "I" which i used in the loop. So Bernard, I did consider the current produced both by the 12V and the 10V as well. I hope you get. If you don't you can whatsapp me and come to my office for more insight to that. Thank you.

What of the resistor just opposite the VTH pleaseeeeee
@kinemarc
@kinemarc 2 жыл бұрын
Since there's no current flowing through that resistor, it's of no use in your equation. This is because V = IR, that's for Kirchoff's voltage law, you need a current and a resistor but once there's no current flowing through that resistor it's going to be like V = no current * resistor. In other words, it's V = 0 * resistor. Which is always going to be Zero at the end. I hope this helps you.

Considering the second loop while calculating the vth you didn't add the 2ohms down there
@kinemarc
@kinemarc 3 жыл бұрын
Sabastian! I really like your observation skills. It's true that I didn't add the 2 ohm resistor down there and this is because if you distribute current through the circuit you'll see that no current flows through that particular resistor. And we've learnt in KVL that sum of voltage sources should be equal to voltage drops. What's a Voltage drop?? It is any current multiplying a resistor. So sine no current was flowing through that resistor, I can't consider that 2 ohm resistor as part of my KVL equations when finding the Vth. I hope this helps you. If you're still not clear on this you can contact me so you meet me at my office for further explanations. Thank you!

Why don’t you include the 2 ohm resistor down there
@kinemarc

If you try to assign current, the 2 ohm resistor does not receive any current or current doesn’t flow through it so you can’t include it in your equations. I hope this helps you. Have a nice day
