PLEASE READ : 1. The Stalwart Golden Lion some people say is amazing and other people say it sucks! Im not sure if it is bugged, good or bad so please do your own research. 2. The Tamed Velociraptor is amazing!!! BUT only if you run it with a full team at least 4 people using it and preferably 5. If all 5 people in your group have it on it is by far the best option. 3. POWER is key in mod 16. so try to use companions that give you power. i mentioned all of them in this video and there are not many of them. 4. According to Rainers sheet that i linked there is only 2 Defense slot companions that give power and only 1 thats gives +4000 power. The Minstrel gives +4000 power & The Ion Stone of Might gives +2000 power. Making them a bit rarer. 5. The Alpha Compy Is Best but it is so expensive thats why i didnt mention it til the end. 6. Remember every class has different companion slots! so know what you need and do your research. For example the wizard has 3 offense 1 defense and 1 utility while the Barbarian has 2 Defense 2 Offense & 1 utility i think and other classes have different setups. 7. Remember in mod 16 to get the Legendary companion bonus you will have to have 5 companions that are in the same bolster meaning as your summoned companion. So depending on what companion you will use you will need more different legendary companions then the 5 you are running. 8. This is only a guide. You should ALWAYS do your own research and see what works best for you. 9. All of these companions were already very expensive before i even made this video on xbox and have been for weeks since the smart people took their time to research weeks ago. 10. Also, for solo players, the healing comps are supposed to get a buff soon. Might be worth a gamble if you see them low

Great informative video. Maybe a mount one, next? Had 8m AD for a legendary but bought a lot of MoPs during sale. May use the 4.5m left to get some of these companions instead.

I still have a hunch they aren't done tweaking companions. Augment companions I believe are the band-aid to fix a catch up problem everyone is having. I used an augment companion when my overall item level was low just to keep up, I think that is the case for everyone now. It will be completely different in a month or two I'm sure.

Something that most people don't look at or consider when making list like this. When you compare companions and are choosing which to use summoned vs augment you also have to consider the companions encounter powers themselves. The best example would be the Dread warrior. One of its encounter powers is called Siphon Strike the Dread warrior strikes a foe and you and the Dread warrior are healed by the damage done from the strike. This is minimal healing at best not a power a player would consider needing or wanting from a companion at this point in the game. However the Dread Warrior has a passive ability called Warrior’s Thirst and Life gained by Siphon Strike fills the recipient with a thirst for combat and increases damage dealt by 10% for the duration of the heal. I have hit a training dummy for 10 hours to test the up time of this dmg bonus and it has about a 65% up time. As a dps class 10% dmg increase is huge exspecially 65% of the time.

Great explanation of the importance of how Companions work. Been using the Portal Hound and I was focused on making it Legendary, but after watching this video, I'll go for the Bulete Pup. The green Bulete Pup on PS4 is around 900k ADs at the AH. Sad that devs put a daily cap to convert RADs to ADs, making my way grinding 100k AD per day... hopefully, after 10 days I might buying it. For my paladin Tank I use Chicken 10% Damage negation , Frozen Galeb Dhur 10% Damage Resistance (Good For Downscaled Dungeons) , the companion with 8k critical avoidance , deep crow hatchling (8k Power) , Energon (HP ) for utility -- when you said combat enchancement you meant utility companions the only class that has 2 utility companions is the cleric (1 Offensive Companion, 2 Utility Companions , 1 Defensive Companion ) - for minstrel you can easily get it from sybella so you don't need to buy it from others, for my wizard I use Alpha Compy 5% Power in utility slot ( with master expedition gear) I can have 10% power - Note: for Stalwart Golden Lion Radiant Damage is magic damage so the one that benefits from it the most is SW - DC - CW still it is damage boost

The leg golden lion Grants 10% more damage if your summoned companion attack. So if you use an augment comp. This Bonus is useless because augments do NOT attack. So for Utility slot Best comp are what you say is the Alpha and those with Power OR the owlbear cup because everything got a huge nerf and This comp give you 10%Chance (if you not crit) to Deal 50% damage of your POWER. Lets say you have around 200k power ( silly but possible) 10%x 1/2 ( 50%crit) = 5% Chance to Deal extra 100k damage. Think About dat

for summoned: Augment: best augments in order; Bulette Pup (power-CA), polar bear cub (Power-crit). CA>Crit (you should be overcapped on crit without doing much) Bonuses; Deepcrow (8k power), Tamed velociraptor (2k per any party member that has it, 10k max), Staldorf (8k CA, you need 118k CA so yh it makes all the sense), Minstrel (in defense slot for 4k power, no better choice here), Owlbear cub (for utility, yes this may not show up in Act but i've done tests with it on and off and i can tell it contributes more than any other), But on the otherhand, the best choice for utility is Alpha Compy, reason i put it behind owlbear is easy, not alot of ppl have this, and its super expensive on pc right now. other ok choices for utility are mercenary (4k power 2k CA), Barbarian's shaman (4k Ca, 2k power), hunting hawk (can do up to 10% damage depending on ur distance from the target, max range being 80, so im assuming its 2.5% at every 20m from ur target, should be really good on bosses and for rangers ofc) PD: i haven't tested everything in utility but i have tested companions like death slaad, cockatrice, grung and they aint that good. Also everything in this comment is at legendary.

Quasit is a good augment companion but be warned he can get VERY talkative.

Also deep crow will be 650 trade bars in mod 16 as well

The Assist Man I'm confused...so if you're saying the Bulette Pup agument companion is BIS, then how can you recommend the Lion Companions utility power...the description, and actually tested as well, says the 10% dmg buff is ONLY activated on "companion power use"...so any agument pet used as your summend will never activate the Lions 10% dmg buff since augments don't attack or use powers in combat.

Prices are absolutely redicules. They should be dropping things in chests and on que completion, that way these things become more available

The Minstrel is the easiest to get for free in Uncommon rarity. All you have to do is to complete that Orbs of something quest chain from the intro campaign in the game and use Sybella's currency to buy one.

I have both the Deep crow hatchling and Bulette pup at legendary and my overall stats(including power) drop using the Bulette pup.

I won't bother with augment comps, combat companions is what i prefer. Before someone types about endgame, i dont care about endgame, i enjoy the journey to endgame more so than endgame itself, and i blame world of Warcraft for the lack of interest for endgame

You have 5 slots...does it matter which slots your companions go in. Like are the 3 slots offense the 4th defense and that last slot utility? Not sure how they need to be lined up? Thanks.
