Some Runs Suck: How I Deal with Failed Workouts

I'm training for a 5K run and then moving on to half marathon training and eventually tackling my first full marathon.
In doing all of that, there will be many running workouts and some of them will suck and you will feel like you have failed. This one was definitely a FAIL!

Great video Aubrey thank you. You maybe interested to know I’m 63 been running most of my life and still enjoy a workout session like you’ve just done the difference between us is I have no garmin no strava no heart rate monitor no nothing just me and I do it all by feel and hey this way there’s never ever a fail as I have no way of knowing except how out of breath I am at the end. Keep up the good work my friend 😉

I love this! I genuinely love the heart behind this. The tools can either support you or force you to focus on things that may not be part of the bigger picture. Thank you so much

Another great video Aubrey! Super relatable for all of us real world runners trying to fit in training around a busy life. Love the sentiment of not getting down about failed workouts.

Brilliant video - thank you! Failed intervals can be so disheartening but in my experience they still contribute to stronger faster running overall. We learn, we adapt, we go again. Keep smashing it out there Aubrey!

Like what HellaGood always says "every single day you show up and give the best you can". You did that today! and you're right about technically failing, but who's the teacher grading this? we are- and we are our own worst critic most of the time. This is what running is all about-- learning and retrying another day. Nice job Aubrey!

If you have a heartrate strap you can do a lactate threshold test and later set your HR zones off of that, which will give the most accurate zones.
@AubreyRunning
@AubreyRunning 3 ай бұрын
Yeah… I have definitely done that but find that there have been inconsistencies when I look at what the app thinks my efforts were in. I will therefore do a lab test and share the experience

You are going from strength to strength man! Every run is a lesson but never forget to keep it fun and not every session needs to be serious. "Your worst is probably better than your best once was" I love that!! I would say that your shoe of choice was probably wrong for a quick interval session as the Skyward X is designed more for those long runs apparently. Also can you give us a little review on those headphones as I'm looking for something to replace my current Samsung ear buds. Stay hard bro 😎

Thanks my man and as always good to hear from you… ar you doing Worthing 10K? As for the shoes… I take your point but that wasn’t the reason… they are great shoes woth a plate and I have ran faster in worse shoes… I ran this session after 2 long days, at the end of the second day after a day out with my little one, playing, made dinner then headed… I was pooped 😂😂😂. Mind you I ran a 5:30/k half marathon (16k of it) so the numbers here are usually easier.

Another superb video my friend, progress is always earned, it is never given! I think you'd have had a better chance of hitting those paces in different shoes, the Skyward X is not a speed shoe!
@AubreyRunning
@AubreyRunning 4 ай бұрын
No it wasn’t the shoes at all… I could hit those paces in a Nike Invincible 3 of this was a first thing in the day run.
