A Tree Grows in Brooklyn my favorite book!!!! ❤

When I lived in Florida a hot spring and early summer scared me too. Prayers for everyone impacted by bad weather. ❤️🙏 One of these days I’ll read something by Maggie O’Farrell. Oh gosh, I read Sisterhood of the traveling pants years ago for a book club. It was cute, but I didn’t continue with the series either. I don’t usually have set tbr’s, but this year has been different and I’m kind of amazed that I actually have certain books picked for the summer months. A tree grows in Brooklyn is amazing, as is The Secret life of bees. The mermaid chair didn’t do it for me, it’s actually one of a handful of books i actually dnf’d. I just couldn’t get on with the main character. Neighborly sounds good too, and the cover is great for summer. I love books set in LA too, so maybe the gates of Evangeline will be a good Mardi Gras read for me next year.😊 have a great weekend!💕

Invention of Wings is the same author as Secret Life of Bees and Mermaid Chair. It's set on a plantation in the early 1800s, so it makes me think of summertime and heat because of the agriculture.

We still have pretty (unseasonably) cool weather here in Colorado, but unfortunately hail storms, which I hate! Golf ball size stones last night and possibly again tonight. I always worry about the animals (and any people) outside. Not to mention my garden… I hope it cools off there!

I got a bunch of Patricia Cornwell books from a friend, so I need to go back and start that series at the beginning. I know I read some of them long ago but would never be able to remember which ones. Sue Monk Kidd's books are so intelligent and thought-provoking - I'd love to be a completist of her books. This is a great video!

I enjoyed the Traveling Pants story, though I think I saw the movie first which was maybe even better, in my opinion. I loved We Were Liars! I remember the opinion on that one was divided, but I found it haunting... good summer read and I like your adjective for it, too, "delicious!" My mind hasn't really transitioned into summer yet, as I'm really not a fan of summers her in NC, Laurie. I have grown to love the chilly, but not too chilly winters here. However, I do like summer reads, beaches, thrillers, vacations gone wrong... I'm moving this weekend, but when I get some books unpacked I might find a fun summer read to try! Since you're talking about Stephen King I think it's a good time for me to get back into Duma Key which takes place on a Florida beach... I read half of it and got distracted by stuff but it's good! ❤📚
