If I could trade places with anyone in the whole world, it would be you Mike. All the money or fame or stuff means nothing to me. You have a great family, a real wife, an awesome job and the coolest stuff. 31 years on this planet, it's been a great ride so far and I really wouldn't want to trade it for anything but given the chance, I would trade worlds with you anyday. You'd probably enjoy heavy construction equipment and what not, maybe not fixing it or doing blacktop but it's real, honest work!

to add to the drill and cart tires, the reason they use them and run them backwards is because when being pulled in mud that treat in that direction is forced to turn therefore not dragging and staying on top of the surface better.

Drive tires are pointed forward (at top) for cleaning out in mud. The mud is pushed out toward the side of the tire and falls away. Non drive tires are pointed backward for the same reason.

Plastic fuel tanks are a fire hazard waiting to happen. They also take crucial weight from the tractor or header . As you say less compaction but also reversed tread offers better flotation.

@@stirv6462 This is what the Versatile website is telling, ..... it's not my opinion, I'm NO expert, probably you're right. 😉 - Weight Distribution. " The steel saddle fuel tanks help the DeltaTrack maintain an even 50/50 weight distribution front to rear regardless of fuel level. A crossover tube carries fuel from side to side to maintain even fuel distribution. The tanks are mounted as to not affect the front to rear weight ratio. "

I agrees with the plastic however I think you and I both know that the Ideal wasn’t going to be saved with a firetruck next to it. A melting out burn on a tank seems better than a metal tank that can build pressure and have an explosion effect. Does that make sense?

All that turning around is why we don't run over 12 row equipment in georgia. So many small fields. We can only dream of a field with 2 mile thrus
@TheEnginneeringFarmer
@TheEnginneeringFarmer 3 жыл бұрын
What part of GA you from? I know of a few farms in Lee and Sumter County with 1 to 1.5 mile thrus. If you ever get a chance to ride through go across Lake Blackshear on Highway 280 going west and turn north on to Lamar Rd. It will take you through what's known as the lake farm. It was, if I'm not mistaken, at one time a 4,500 cropable acre farm with just few heads, dirt roads, and fence rows in it. If you turn south you'll go through tons of large fields headed towards Leesburg and Albany. There's several 200-600 acre and larger fields scattered through the area. I've worked in a field that was 1,500 acres on the lee Sumter line, all that kept it from being bigger was 2 paved roads cutting the north and south ends off. Pretty neat being on the north end looking south and seeing cars go by looking like ants cause they're so far away.

Tyres running backward on your carts and drill is all to do with positive action on the tyres. The design of the tyre is is such that tye are self cleaning. When drive they need to be arrowed forward. When driven by the ground the need to be reverse arrowed so the self clean. Nothing to do with compaction. 10% slip is about right for tyres by the way.

i thought your tires backwards on the seeder is not because of compaction, but if its get wet or muddy, the tires will turn the longest when the threat is backwards, because of the scooping effect.
@kevincasady8992
@kevincasady8992 3 жыл бұрын
They will be more likely to travel straighter in wet conditions. A little less compaction as well, a tire in the driven direction is moving the dirt to the outside of the tred, reversed it goes to the middle. Just like a fwa tractor, get in the slick without the front engaged you never know where it will dart off to. Years ago there were two direction arrows on industrial and some ag tires sidewalls, one way for powered and the other for unpowered.
