Anyone (or anything) in public, not in private, is going to get filmed, and you said it beautifully right there because YES this is the way the world works... you're in public and if you happen to walk in front of a person filming, it's you that is subjecting yourself to be on video. Sure, they can call the police or sheriff, but at the end of the day, the person accusing you of filming you, even if they say it's against the law or something, is going to get taught a good lesson even if they don't like hearing the truth of the matter.

Keep on filming, as long as you are on public right of way anyone trying to stop up is in violation of your rights under the 1st Amendment. Per case law here in Ga. if someone walks in front of your camera they are giving you permission to photograph them. Also unless a fire or wreck scene is a crime scene you can photograph it as long as you are again on public right of way and not impeding access to first responders. I found out years ago that if you offer a copy of your photos or video of a fire or wreck scene to the senior officer on site they appreciate the offer and will give you their email. I have photographed several large fires and given the photos to the local FD for their files.

I feel for Matt if he doesn't want to be on a video. But in a public place, he's open game to your camera. Best place for him is to stand next to you so he would not be in your shot. You made the offer. the next move is up to Matt and his Father. Maybe Matt has a medical problem like my autistic grandson, who at times doesn't want people in his space or watching him. But it's up to them to let you know what his problem is as you tried to approach him about his issues with people

You handled this very well. Actually we could all learn something from how you handled things. If they are willing, yes sit and chat with them. However, I suggest you have a mediator like the sheriff present, and perhaps see if the sheriff could arrange the conversation. They seem abliged to call the sheriff on you, perhaps if you initiate the "turce" with the sheriff office, it may be helpful. Praying for you. And keep up the awesome videos. It is not a "Police" issue if he is afraid of you. Ignore them keep doing what you do, document your interactions with the Police, Matt and the Father and if it continues take legal action. Pretty simple the Father is trying to toss some influence due to his past connection with the FD, thinking it might cause you some problems. Matt may have some other issues and like a Father he is trying to protect his own in a really odd ball way. I strongly suggest some legal advise and possibly an OOP (Order of Protection) against the Father.

What I would do is file a restrainning order against Matt and his dad. If he is near you, then call the cops again and see how he likes it when they get called on him. (reverse card)

Just when we thought things had calmed down a bit the three ring circus starts again. Somehow I sense Matt is not processing reality correctly. He should be in touch with a person who makes 4 or 5 videos day or night who complains about the UP trains near his house. That guy is hung up on the FRA and the FBI and feels he's being spied on. I couldn't resist so I looked at the lyrics twice from Dream Police and boy is there a hookup to your pal and now apparently daddy Dearest. The rocker BCOL car stayed on the tracks all the way into Kentucky so you can't be blamed for sabotaging a train
