The girls involved were basically indoctrinated for about 6months leading up to this, they were under the impression it was all for tv/KZfaq, and were given money for performing pranks like running up and holding a guys hand whilst walking with his partner etc. All their money they pretty much sent back to their families. All under the instruction of the filming team (that were actually North Korean agents) so they’d been doing this stuff for a while leading up to this, basically being trained without them knowing. They were told the oils were really bad for clothing so to be very careful with it, hence why they went to the bathroom afterwards to clean it off. One of the girls a few days after the event was even told by the tv crew (n.Korean agents) to return to the airport for another prank, she was seen on cctv returning and waiting in the airport for hrs, but they never showed up. She had no idea of what had happened during the last ‘prank’

23:05 First thing that comes to my mind: He obviously knew he was a potential target, and also knew NK's cloak and daggers can reach far beyond its borders. So he probably carried around all that money to literally bribe anyone that tried to assassinate him, obviously not expecting something as elaborate as 'two-part neurotoxin applied directly to the face from behind by would-be pranksters'. To be fair, he could probably get away with bribing them $5k, but he's also gotta account for multiple potential assassins on a single trip. And at that point, he's carrying around enough that it looks suspicious to legitimate authorities, so he's gotta carry even more to motivate them to look the other way.

Something I was thinking about is that he was carrying around the money to bribe people, but as to the "It would be suspicious and he'd be taken away for questioning with that money," it occurs to me that he probably wanted to be taken away for questioning, where he would say "I'm Kim Jong Nam," and probably receive extra assistance and security as he escaped. If North Korea's method of assassinating him was to pay two ladies $1000, set them up in the cheapest hotel, and put old chemicals on napkins, I kinda doubt they had the influence to do much if he was detained by a more powerful government that dislikes North Korea and would support him leaving the country.

Most precursors of V-series nerve agents are as heavily restricted as the nerve agents themselves, so ease of smuggling would not have been a concern. The primary reason for using a binary agent was, as you mentioned, that the woman applying it would have been extremely unwell before reaching Kim, to the point that the attack may have failed, if unitary VX were used. Also just to clarify, these are not biological weapons and are instead chemical weapons. They are quite distinct in many regards such as mode of action and exposure, control, storage, etc.

If anyone is interested, the video is by Rotten Mango and is titled something like '2 Girls Accidentally Kill Kim Jong Un's Brother". I wholeheartedly believe they were clueless about the plot. The amount of money they got for a "seemingly harmless prank" is life changing on some countries with extreme poverty. That alone will make people kill for survival, imagine getting it for a petty prank. It's just a horrible situation. Not only releasing a WMD, but doing it in a crowded area with zero concern for people's lives, and also using less fortunate people for it as scapegoats. I don't know how anyone can live as a human after ordering something like this...but Kim Jong Un surprises me every day.

I'd seen this one back on the 20th of July. It was very well done and goes into great detail. One thing Muta had said that was incorrect was that napkins or cloth were used to apply the VX agent to his face; it was applied with their bare hands. 2nd girl to apply the VX compound agent was VERY lucky to still be living afterword. Hadn't she immediately washed her hands with soap and water, she would've met the same fate as Kim Jong-nam and been dead as a door-nail. They were also lead up to that event at the airport; it was not just a one time KZfaq prank, there were multiple over a period of time, of course sans VX.

It didn't matter how apologetic, polite or cooperative I was; that flag was taken incredibly seriously. A full 9 years later I flew again for the first time since and the same exact thing happened. Malaysia once hv N.Korean airline Air Koryo direct fly to N.Korea, and even hv 300 N.Korean worked in Malaysia‘s coal mine that time. So because of these resources they can get, N.Korean hv the chance to planned this assassination and make it works. Muta mentions Tabun in passing in the vid, this is a story I read in a book about the effects of tabun: Because of the plant's deep secrecy and the difficult nature of the production process, it took from January 1940 until June 1942 for the plant to become fully operational. Many of Tabun's chemical precursors were so corrosive that reaction chambers not lined with quartz or silver soon became useless. Tabun itself was so hazardous that the final processes had to be performed while enclosed in double glass-lined chambers with a stream of pressurized air circulating between the walls. Three thousand German nationals were employed at Hochwerk, all equipped with respirators and clothing constructed of a poly-layered rubber/cloth/rubber sandwich that was destroyed after the tenth wearing. Despite all precautions, there were over 300 accidents before production even began and at least ten workers died during the two and a half years of operation. Some incidents cited in A Higher Form of Killing: The Secret History of Chemical and Biological Warfare are as follows: Four pipe fitters had liquid Tabun drain onto them and died before their rubber suits could be removed. A worker had two liters of Tabun pour down the neck of his rubber suit. He died within two minutes. Seven workers were hit in the face with a stream of Tabun of such force that the liquid was forced behind their respirators. Only two survived despite resuscitation measures.

I like how this is so deep that Muta put suspenseful music in the background of this video. Funny enough, this was more engaging to listen to, because of the music. It made me want to listen to every single moment of this video.

This situation is brand new to me. I’m always blown away at the lengths people are willing to go in order to get what they want. They couldn’t just Ctrl+X the guy out in some simple way; they had to do it in one of the most dangerous ways imaginable. Great video, Muta! Thank you for sharing it!!!

15:10 That kinda warning has gone far enough already. Rotten Mango has told the story, these women were trained well over a month in doing this for a KZfaq prank show, that paid well, too, and so they couldn't tell there were red flags, such as filming at an airport, or no longer using baby oil, or that they were told to wash their hands right after. The next day, they were told to appear to the same airport, but instead of meeting the film crew to get their money, they get arrested and thrown in jail. Also, there's a KZfaq prankster that went even further, his legends tell a story of "bombing prank", where he throws a backpack into a crowd of people, screams incoherent words, and runs away. (his name is ApoRed)

When this happened what made the malaysian citizens even more surprised is not about the assassination but the fact that malaysia had a diplomatic relation with north korea to the point NK even has their station for them to run their activities in the country Edit: If they can run an assassination on broad daylight outside of their country, only god knows what else they have been cooking in the underworld side of things

I remember hearing about it in 2017. I was honestly scared of a war ocurring when I heard WMDs were involved, and I honestly think it would happen if enough people were killed. I think a lot of the reason it was mostly forgotten to time is because it was a political play on North Korea itself. Imagine if they did this to a president or another major figure on the biggest NATO countries, it could've ended horribly
