FILM DESCRIPTION:
Rachel (Ginnifer Goodwin) is a talented attorney at a top New York law firm, a generous and loyal friend, and, unhappily, still single-as her engaged best friend Darcy (Kate Hudson) is constantly reminding her. But after celebrating her 30th birthday, perpetual good girl Rachel unexpectedly ends up in the arms of the guy she's had a crush on since law school, Dex (Colin Egglesfield)...who just happens to be Darcy's fiance. As one thing leads to another in the frantic weeks leading up to Darcy's wedding, Rachel finds herself in an impossible situation, caught between her treasured friendship with Darcy and the love of her life. I’m so sick of Hollywood pushing the whole “it’s okay to cheat if you really love them”. It’s so annoying especially with your best friends. Like I understand being insecure but that guy didn’t have to let it get that far if he was in love with someone else

Darcy was a bad friend first for going out with him when she knew Rachel liked him. And Rachel did get her dream guy but she paid the price and lost her best friend since childhood.

Darcy could be the worst person in the world but Rachel was her close friend, they grew up together and she destroyed and betrayed their friendship for a man she knew several years, well she’s the WORST. You don’t sleep with the ex’s, boyfriends or fiancé of your friends that’s just the basic rule and common sense. And if you think that you can justify her actions by Rachel’s insecurities or saying that it’s her true love well then I’m sorry for you, you don’t have any morals or true friends. If they really had any morals they would say about their love to Darcy directly, not hiding around like coackroaches, waiting to her to find out she’s « the bad one » to justify their actions to feel better. Yes Darcy was a bad person but at least she didn’t betray her best friend. And last, even if you are close to a person, you need communication to know their wishes, Darcy didn’t have any superpowers to read the poor insecure and shy Rachel mind so she might not know that Rachel liked the guy because she was too self-centred and egoistic. You may say oh so Darcy wasn’t a good friend, yes she was but at least she didn’t cheat or played around to be the so called bestie

He didn't confess his feelings because she told him she was okay with him and Darcy, so for him, she couldn't possibly like him back. She did that because, she thought Darcy was better than her and she felt like she had already lost the fight.

@Ador kable, the book reveals that Darcy always was competitive and did passive aggressive things all the time to make her seem "better." For an example, Rachel wanted to be in an Ivy League school and was denied and Darcy she got in but decided not to go. Plus Darcy was louder and more extraverted so Rachel felt like an Ugly Duckling so she thought Dex would fall for Darcy instantly like she was Aphrodite. Their whole friendship was great but also toxic.

Maturing is realizing Darcy wasn’t the problem (yes she’s a 🐩 but what you see is what you get). Rachel has no self respect, no back bone and is in the wrong no matter how you spin it (she’s still the other woman) and Dex is the worst and doesn’t get held accountable for his actions.

I love this movie. It actually taught me that sometimes you have to reevaluate your relationship with your friends. Some friends are always the ones in needs, it’s always about them. I don’t agree with what Rachel did, but I believe that she will be better off without Darcy in her life.

So the brunette knew him first and is really "nice" but didn't say anything and her "bitch" of a friend swept in instead so it's totally okay for her to cheat with her "best friend's" fiance. Fiance is still in love with the brunette but asks blondie to marry him anyway and cheats on her with her "best mate". This is a horrible story that's trying to pass off as if it is a romantic one. No. Just no.

Knowing your heart's true desires is not always evident. It often leads people to huge mistakes. That's what this movie is about. Finding out what you really want and being brave enough to go after it. It's not a horrible story, it's a real story. If you're lucky enough to know what you want and find it on the first try, good for you. But remember, it's not everybody's case.

That makes no sense. It's clear that he never loved his fiance but was always in love with her best friend yet he dates the blonde anyway probably knowing in the back of his mind that this would end up happening eventually. It doesn't even make any sense and it's horrible, also it makes no sense why they wouldn't have ended up together to begin with. I don't even find the brown hair girl likeable, maybe it's the actress but she is just the most annoying and fake person in the whole movie.

Wanting to fight against love because it only made me sick, but deep deep down I was addicted to the pain, because it was such an intense emotion and I had carried it with me for such a long time. And while my rational part wanted to end my suffering, I always knew I'd hold onto it. It was everything I had.

You don't want to 'not want him'. You want to be a healthy, self loving, sane person who loves what's good for her. because that's what's natural for human beings. if you are 'addicted to pain', that's because you have unresolved childhood neglect/trauma/attachment issues that needs therapy, that needs work. Do it now, or do it after a lifetime of suffering and mistakes, your choice. Don't just try to make your unhealthy, twisted mind seem romantic, dont protect the ones who have made you this way, don't pretend this is normal. It's not. It's common, but it's not healthy. What you wrote above is pure bullshit, as you will find out after a few wasted decades yourself.

List of what this movie taught me: 1. Cheat on your fiancée/fiancé, it's not a bad thing to do. 2. Steal your best friend's fiancé, it's not a bad thing to do. 3. Be dumb, even if you're actually a lawyer. 4. Cheat and go behind someone's back, you'll end up happy (and thick faced). 5. Do bad things because if you're the main character, the movie will make it seem like you're the hero anyway. Thank you for all those who made this movie possible. I did not waste about 2 hours of my life. I'm not even being sarcastic, really. Now excuse me while I find someone to cheat with ;) 'Cause, you know, I wanna end up happy too.

She was his first choice. The point is, Rachel did not have enough self-esteem to think she can be a first choice against Darcy. If the roles were reversed, Rachel would not really believe Dex's sincerity of marrying her, she would always doubt him, maybe even push him towards Darcy. That's why they had to go the long messy road.

I was crying most of the time watching the movie coz this is exactly what happened to me, my friend and our boyfriend at the time when we were in highschool. The only difference is it didnt end the same way with the movie.. Im not brave like Rachel. I didnt run back fast enough to make it work after my friend let go for the both us. In the end the guilt is so hard to swallow that I have to let go the relationship as well.. The 3 of us choose to let go. And looking back now, I think we all did the right decision coz it lead us all to the right people whom we are meant to.. The relationship changed my life, my perspective , my values and my self worth and I will always be grateful to our ex and my friend. Many people wont get this movie and just proceed on passing judgement but tbh, its one of the most painful situation to be in. I dont want anyone to be in this situation coz I know how it feels. But just in case you are in this kind of relationship, I hope you are brave enough to face it and be honest enought to admit to yourself where you really standbut most of all I hope you know the real worth of what you're fighting for. If it works then Im happy for you but if not then dont force it. Sometimes we fall inlove with people who are not meant for us but will leave us the greatest lesson we thought we never needed in this life. So whatever it is.. The love or the lesson I hope you find it.

I read Borrowed and Blue, both books in one and it tells the first story and the movie as well as Darcy's story and Rachel's more in the future. It was so amazing! One of the best "chick lit" books I've read. Never made the connection between the book and the movie until now lol. Hopefully they make the sequel

First,if Darcy knew Rachel so well,she should have known that Rachel had feelings for Dex when she met him and shouldnt have started to go out with him (hes also to blame,because if he loved Rachel,he shouldnt have asked Darcy out). Anyone judging these characters has never been in a similar situation. Rachel was clearly a very timid girl who wasn't willing to stand up for herself even for true love. She let Darcy walk all over her and this story is focused on the time she fought back. If you learn anything from this story it should be to always stand up for what you want and believe in. Sitting back and letting life just happen to you almost always causes friction and drama that you don't need...Even when your best friend demands your compliance- fight back! It should also teach you that not all friendships are meant to last! They're here for a reason, a season, or for lifetime... Don't be afraid to cut the cord when its time. :)

Penny Parker -- you are so right. I believe that people are missing the point of the movie by analyzing the characters and trying to decide who's an a-hole, etc. The point of the story is that life is messy; no one is saying it's okay to cheat. The bigger message is exactly what you said: stand up for yourself and what you want instead of just letting life happen. Dex was always in love with Rachel, but got caught up in the mystique of being with a girl like Darcy -- the typical, over-confident women who usually get what they want in life, without having to try to hard or work for it. The biggest lesson is that we can let true love pass us by because we are too blind to see what's right in front of us, and musicians, poets, authors, screenwriters have written about this subject time and again for that reason: people are still missing this point.

As a married woman that has seen this movie so many times and love it so much and has never read the books can I just say this...I love this movie because it shows how Dex and Rachel really both always loved each other and just never said anything maybe because of fear of rejection who knows but they both felt the same way. Darcy came in and Rachel felt like she had lost already and plus you could tell she was shy as well. I hated that it ruined Darcy and Rachel's friendship but I loved that Dex and Rachel ended up together. This movie is one of my favorites and I have seen it so many times can't wait until the sequel Im even more excited...

Guys there was supposed to be a sequal where Ethan and Darcy get together over the course of her pregnancy which is why there is an extra scene at the end where darcy is in london.

I like the movie. I don't think it was as bad as critics make it out to be but I agree with a another reviewer. If Darcy know Rachel so well then she should've known that Rachel would totally be into Dex and just to shy or afraid to admit it. With that said, if Dex had a thing for Rachel, he should've told her how he felt first and give her a chance to admit her feeling too rather than date her friend. Let's be honest, by dating her friend, he technically is losing any chance with Rachel.

First, Darcy is describe as selfish and self centered, so obviously she doesn't care about Rachel's feelings. Then, Rachel told Dex she was okay with him going out with Darcy (because she knew that if Darcy wanted Dex, she'll get him since she gets anything she wants) so to Dex, Rachel didn't like him back.

The movie was great! People fail to realise how realistic this was. People make mistakes, life isn’t perfect! No one is saying cheating is acceptable, it isn’t, but iv known many people over the years to be in such tricky heartbreaking situations, sometimes things aren’t always simple! A childhood friendship ends, the girl who was just as much in the wrong ends up with and pregnant to a guy completely opposite of who she thought she’d end up with, the nice guy doesn’t get the girl, and the two who should have had the balls earlier on finally end up together, however losing friendships and hurting people’s feelings along the way. life doesn’t make sense and it isn’t fair but honestly good movie!

I honestly don't know whose side I am on, at times I'd be on Rach's side because she, after all, deserves to be happy and at the same time internally shouting "Oh God, Rach you are so doing the wrong thing". I recommend you read the book, it's a good read. I didn't know too there was a movie. Gotta see this too!

Darcy is obnoxious that’s true but that’s just her character. She still loves the people around her and is real with them. Rachel had no right to hurt her like that. From the very beginning, she already said Dex and her were just friends, when Darcy was shooting her shot ! Well, Darcy went for it and Dex played along too. Dex could have easily turned her down at the time but made this go on for the longest time. Only to suddenly express his feelings for Rachel. Then to justify Rachel being with Dex, they just conveniently made Darcy cheat with Marcus ! Yuck !

Darcy is a narcissist, Dax CHEATED on his fiancé with her BEST FRIEND!! 🤦🏻♀️ Rachel _should_ have ended up with Ethan in London and both of them show up hand in hand at Darcey and Dax's wedding! Now *THAT* would have been a good ending!!!

No offense, but what kind of friendship was that? One just pushed the other around and the other was so insecure that you never knew what to think of her. Rachel's character really pissed me off but then Darcy's character was too much too, like the world revolved around her.

It's good to point out that girls with low self-esteem can be able to get the guy too, but that's all to do with personality. If you work together, you work together, Rachel and Dex did. But I've got to say continuing on with a 'relationship' that associates you with your oh so horrible friend, Darcy, isn't the best way to go around about things with getting the guy. It is saying a girl like Rachel can get the guy but it doesn't change on how she does it, which in the end truly defines her.

From watching this trailer I can already tell that there are major differences in the book and movie. I think to truly appreciate this you would have to read the books both in Rachel and Darcy's point of view. I don't think I would watch the movie because reading the book and loving it so much is the memory I wish to keep for this series. I truly loved the books, absolutely amazing...

I hated how they romanticed cheating, I was hoping she would end up with Ethan. Dex was too much of a coward. But anyways. Its a good movie for entertainment purposes, but the cheating thing was abit gross.

Sad that Darcy never really knew how to love anyone. She was taking from Rachel since they were 10, she cheated on Dex and really didnt love him...Lets hope this character could at least love her baby.

Rachel loved/liked DeX for years.. she was unselfish and allowed her friend to court Dex.. DeX did not want it at first because he thought Rachel wasn't into him. In reality this is what happens when you don't speak up. Ethan was a good friend and he would have been good for Rachel. But her feelings weren't the same. You can't help who you love. I totally enjoyed this movie. Darcy wasn't the settle down type anyways. Until she got knocked up for her "irresponsible" behavior. Lol we are all adults. People cheat people lie.. it's life!
