Oh WOW!! I've never heard of Little Venice & I was based in London for 10 Years! I love the Canal Boats, I got on one every Chance I got. The Usual Run was Birmingham to Worcester over a Weekend, Fabulous! Once I got the Hang of it. I had a 16ft Runabout at home & was used to the Briny Sailing so Bloody Long Canal Boats on Still Fresh Water that didn't have a Tide & a Top Speed of maybe 4 or 5 Knots was an Adjustment. It was on our 2nd Trip that I discovered MOTH Couldn't Swim, he was trying to show me "Legging" it. He Legged it alright, Straight over the Bow. Canal Boats maybe Long & Slow, but they still take some Distance to Stop. I didn't have a lot of Options, the Old Saying Fat Floats isn't Correct. So it was Slap it in Neutral & Over I went. Take it From Me, Canal Water in The Midlands is not Nice, even Worse when trying to Tow a 20+ Stone Floundering Hippo. The only Good thing was he'd taken his Shoes off & was wearing Shorts. We had Words. We did a 2 week Holiday on the Norfolk Broads just before we came Home. MOTH was kitted out with a Life Jacket & Tether & was Connected to the Boat whenever he went Outside. These Illuminated Boats were Awesome. I think if we had Stayed in the UK I would have had to Buy 1. There was nothing Nicer on a Warm Summers Day that Sailing the Canal & just pulling up to a Country Pub, tying up & having some Lunch & a Drink or two & a Game of Darts, then Back to the Boat & maybe a Kip, before Pootling Off to our Overnight Mooring.
