Appalachian here as well. This is our culture and I am very proud of my people. For most of my life people always talked crap about the people here, saying we are just dumb hillbillies etc. I think they do this intentionally because (they) know we're smart and have the know how to persevere through the hardest of hardships.

@@happilea I'm from WV and currently living here now, but i've lived all over the united states. It seems like people love to have someone to hate. People in LA talk crap about people not even 10 mins away, like they are the dumb and uncultured. I found it funny, but also sad. I agree with you though. No one gets as much brute force mockery than people who live around the appalachian mountains. From all the places i've lived, no one is as kind and hearty than people with Appalachia blood. True grit and big hearts.

I love how this video appears to be done just off the cuff and the dogs laying around him. You know those dogs lay around him all the time while he sings and plays the guitar. This is a classic our country needs right now.

In a way it was done off the cuff. That was a video of him recording the song. It was the first time he had access to a good mic and camera. You can hear the cacadas in the background. There is a couple people that travel around and record local musicians. They asked him to came sing and that is what he sung.
