US Army Combat Veteran and Milwaukee WI-based Singer Songwriter, Jesse Frewerd joins G4V Instructor and SST:AVV host, Tom Lamog to continue their conversation from where it left off a year ago in the May 17 2023 podcast. In this evening's conversation, Jesse speaks candidly about life with his wife and partner Katie that includes raising a family, moving to a new home, songwriting, and recording along with live and recorded performances of their music.
At just 18 years old and fueled by a desire to serve his country after the events of 9/11, Jesse began his military career as a cavalry scout. In 2003, Frewerd and his unit were deployed to Iraq, where he served on active duty for more than a year. While on a routine mounted patrol during his deployment, Frewerd and members of his unit were wounded when an IED detonated beneath their vehicle. Shaken and injured, the team managed to apprehend the suspects and leave the area. Frewerd has been honored with several awards in recognition of his service.
Jesse’s musical journey began post-deployment in Iraq in 2004, where music became not just a passion, but a lifeline-a transformative outlet for healing and reflection in the face of adversity. It was in 2017 when Jesse's journey took an unexpected turn getting the opportunity to collaborate with seasoned songwriters in the heart of Music City, Nashville. Today, Jesse and his wife, Katie are happily partnered in life, are the proud parents of their son, along with Jesse’s college-age daughter, and their new baby on the way. Jesse and Katie have also written songs and performed together as the group Canary Canyon.
