I’m a middle aged construction worker from the mountains of the south. Listened to it a 100 times and is still makes me cry like a child. Mr Taylor has become a part of my therapy. Slightly different but similar roots. He is a healer. If I ever meet him he is getting a hug, there is no choice.

I agree! He opened for Charles Wesley Godwin at a concert we went to at a small venue and I was an instant fan. So much raw emotion and his voice is just beautiful. I cried several tries and I hadn't even heard him before, it was amazing and cathartic. He talked to my husband for a long time and is a very genuine person. Definitely catch him live if you can, it's truly a soul moving experience.

Hey Burt, I know it's been about a month but one of the biggest ways to make a difference in your community is to advocate for school lunches to be free, for some, it is their only source of a real meal. At the very least, organizing to guarantee that kids who have negative lunch account balances are still fed a warm meal can make a huge difference. If both of those are already in place in your community, see if your community has a program that sends home food with kids that they know are in need. We have kids all over the country growing up hungry, just like Nolan did.

Wow, this pulled on my heart strings in a big way. Never heard of him but I love him, everyone is going through something and been holding on to stuff for a long time, myself included. I had wells of tears in my eyes, the empathy I feel for him and his past struggles, I sure hope he is in a better place these days, his voice has power, and maybe it has brought him to a better and finer place today. I came here for the Nolan Taylor reaction. I subscribed and liked because you are a great human. I appreciated that you actually listened to the lyrics and picked up that he was talking about his mom immediately. You would be surprised how many people miss that. I enjoyed hearing your thoughtful comments about the song and some of the issues it brought up. I appreciate that your students are lucky enough to have a teacher in you. Our country would be a lot better off if more teachers were like you. Best wishes.

I love this song! Brought a lot of healthy tears to my eyes! Reminds me of my childhood and past relationships. I am on my 4th time in a row listening to it. My family also said this song makes them think of me. They said I am a gentle soul with a lot of pain inside. I grew up poor and abused and then had horrible luck in relationships for about 15 years or more. Women that used me and cheated on me. I made my share of mistakes so I am not claiming to be perfect. This song really touched my heart and soul! You hit the nail on the head in this review. Makes me want to help kids who are going through tough times! You sound like a teacher I wish I had!

This song has helped me a lot coming to terms with my mother's suicide. I had a very similar experience growing up, and I finally left her when I realized nothing I did would pull her out of it. Handle of vodka a night mixed with pills and loads of psychological and physical abuse, and I stayed there for her. Put her in the psychiatric hospital 3 times, then a family member came and got me. She shot herself after I left, and I've blamed myself since. This song and the community it's creating has truly helped me come to terms and is helping me move on.. sorry for the rant. I just felt safe sharing that here.

I am glad you found this song too. It is important to let your feelings out .He is doing it through music but you can do it too by writing down your thoughts. It might even help you to write to your mother. I hope you got professional help to deal with your guilt and trauma. When you feel overwhelmed , stay in the moment and switch to thankfulness. Her spirit is free of pain and her choice to not go on in this world had nothing to do with you leaving but what drugs and alcohol was doing too her mind…. that is called creating boundaries for yourself and you had the right to do that. Blessings.

Watching a Quite Guy build into an overflowing rage of emotion, is mesmerizing. The pain is dripping from the flow & lyrics. He only explains a small window into his world. And before the song is done. You are hoping he finds his peace & success. Why do we have Wars? Ask any suffering child that answer. Pain & Suffering beget Pain & Suffering. For those who become Artist & Comedians and are trying to reach the Damaged child in you. Good Bless those who Help the next Generation of Children To find Hope!

My parents were both problems, in a lot of ways. I was taken in by my grandparents when I was 3 or 4. They wanted me to still know my parents, so I would visit them a couple of times a month. It was good to see exactly how good I had it. My little sister stayed with our mom & she really had it hard. I haven't seen or heard from anyone in my family since my son was born. My wife and I wanted him to not know that those kinds of people exist. Her family is all great people. He's 13 now, so we've started drip-feeding a few stories just so he knows a little bit but he has a hard time understanding how a parent could not care about their children. It upsets him & I don't like seeing him deal with that but I think it's important that he knows. I struggle with it sometimes because I want to shelter him from everything but I don't want to lie to him either. Is it wrong? Would it be better to lie? Parenting is hard and I think doing your absolute best is all you can do. We try to make decisions together and make our best decisions.

So many songs about dead beat dads and there are also so many not so good moms out there that it seems no one wants to address. This one hits hard. My parents divorced when I was very young and my dad got custody of me, my brother, and sister. Never had much of a “mother/son” relationship with my mom. Wasn’t abusive or anything but I always couldn’t wait to go back home to my dads whenever I was at her house.
