Thank you for doing a Rival Sons song. I've been a fan since the beginning, and I've seen them live 9-10 times. They are always great and they don't get enough credit.

You should really give Wildfire a listen, or 10. "Pride has a way of holding too firmly to history"

Im seventy now...not as pretty, sharp minded or physically fit as I once was. However, Im inspired by John...he too wasnt as handsome, sharp minded or physically fit as he once was. He showed me how to accept myself as I am. He gave of himself until he just didn't have any more. Thats my goal as time marches on. RIP John...see you sooner than later !

I notice that his strumming pattern is similar to Mississippi Hill Country blues picking, a brush rhythm and index finger or two finger picking combination. Sometimes combined with a thumb rhythm. Look at the early RL Burnside stuff, the Kenny Brown picking particularly The Black Keys Goin Down South. All that stuff is far more right hand than left. And so it is with Justin

Love this song, as much for the way he plays the guitar as the lyrics. Everyone always talks about his voice (which, don't get me wrong, I LOVE), but I love the way he hammers those strings!

I love this song and the trio I play with cover it. We lack the instrumental virtuosity and variety of TBT so we only do an instrumental verse at the start and in the middle. We've rearranged to start with "I ain't got a dime..." and use the part "Whiskey won't you .." as a chorus after each verse. It works for us!

5:45 funny to hear you describe the situation I’ve been in for a handful of years now. I often second guess the validity of my pain, which feels akin to accepting that I don’t deserve my wife’s love. Hmm, not fun.

The only thing I know about God is that he's not an architect. He's the element in life that we can't control. God isn't an entity, it's just the stuff we can't control and want to.

What I think he means is that he wouldn't hunt squirrels anymore, he would let the rock salt and nails rust his gun solidly shut. Just my opinion though. The rest of the song is about admiring their beauty, so that is what makes sense to me.

My favorite part about her is that every live performance is different. She somehow manages to add so much flare and personality that it makes it a lil different each time which I think is special. For example “In Deams”. Has anyone else noticed this? THE BEST VERSION of In Dreams is on her set at XPoNential Music Fest 2021. At that time it was called “Take me with you”

My parents were both problems, in a lot of ways. I was taken in by my grandparents when I was 3 or 4. They wanted me to still know my parents, so I would visit them a couple of times a month. It was good to see exactly how good I had it. My little sister stayed with our mom & she really had it hard. I haven't seen or heard from anyone in my family since my son was born. My wife and I wanted him to not know that those kinds of people exist. Her family is all great people. He's 13 now, so we've started drip-feeding a few stories just so he knows a little bit but he has a hard time understanding how a parent could not care about their children. It upsets him & I don't like seeing him deal with that but I think it's important that he knows. I struggle with it sometimes because I want to shelter him from everything but I don't want to lie to him either. Is it wrong? Would it be better to lie? Parenting is hard and I think doing your absolute best is all you can do. We try to make decisions together and make our best decisions.

Susan is not just a great singer but also a guitarist of rare expertise. I agree that Derick is probably the greatest slide player of his generation. The bassist is Oteil Burbridge who was immortalised by Tal Wilkenfeld as "Oatmeal Bandabe" on her first album. Sadly the keyboardist died in 2019. He was Kofi Burbridge, Oteil brother. This is one of my favourite tracks and hopefully will get played at my funeral!
