For everybody asking : 1. If you don't like the filter and want pixels, you can choose it on options 2. There is a megadrive rom called Sonic Classic Heroes that is sonic 1 and 2 together, with a lot of new features

This port has so much love and effort put into it, that now even Taxman's ports of Sonic 1, 2 and CD looks kinda outdated in comparison. The overall presentation of Sonic 3 A.I.R. is just beautiful, the menus are perfect and the achievements are a nicely implemented feature. I really hope this gets an official release in the future.

I mean, everyone keeps telling me it's a 'definitive experience' but so far I think it's one of the worst PC ports out there. It has no controller support out of the box (and that's a major let down) and whenever I select the options menu the game just crashes for no reason. Other than that it works fine but these two problems just make it tough to enjoy the game at all.

This is a very underrated project that not enough people talk about. They really improved on this since it first released. They even ported this to mobile recently which is amazing. This project deserves more love honestly. This really is the definitive way to play Sonic 3 & Knuckles. A remaster of my favourite game is truely fascinating. I am really grateful for this.

@@EpicGamer_SansheeFreddy I've beaten the game on both and I think A.I.R is better, there's a dropdash (requires 3 achievements), achievements, native 16:9, smoother animations, a Knuckles and tails mode, mod support, enhanced music, a peel out (requires 8 achievements) and contains slot of options that Sonic 3 Complete has, plus Sonic 3 Complete is a rom hack which with a bad emulator doesn't run well not to mention that since Sonic 3 Complete is an edit of a stolen online rom, it is technically piracy which makes it illegal

I'm not a huge fan of the smoothing effects they are applying to the sprites, but I definitely appreciate the extra animation they add to the graphics like when sonic runs, the coins spinning, etc. And WOW the emerald levels have never looked so good! The original is riddled with clipping, this looks so nice.

You know, when I first heard about Sonic the Hedgehog 3: Angel Island Revisited, I thought the game would have smoother animations. Instead, we have the exact same animations for these old sprites. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, I'm just saying it would make sense since A.I.R came out after Mania, and THAT game had smooth animations (most of the time). At least there's smooth rotation.

@@hydrochloric007 The Doodlers' Association didn't say they wanted Sonic Mania's sprites. They said they thought that the sprite animation would be more fluid, because Sonic 3 A.I.R is made after Sonic Mania, which added a lot more frames to the sprites. And even if Mania's sprites were used, that doesn't mean it would automatically be more fluid, because changing sprites doesn't change the number of fps in a cycle.

@@thefatcowv2.043 I’m not sure if you’re still active in this but I can understand what you mean. AIR uses the original s3&k rom to basically power it. Think of the S3&K rom as the engine of the car and the widescreen support and such as the rest of the car, making it all cool and stylish and whatnot. Although around a year ago he made his own engine for the game, which takes a lot of work, and made the game completely open source now so anybody can do anything to it now if they want

35:47 this is what I like about sonic games. They always have festival like zones at night time. With bright lights and colors and stuff. Pretty much every sonic game has a festival like zone at night time. Except those 3 sonic games named Sonic and the black knight, Sonic and the Seven rings, and Sonic Unleashed.

2:03:00 Just a quick tip for this boss: you don't have to use the gravity switchers to make the spikes hit the boss, you can actually spindash into the spikes (when they are facing spikes down, you don't take damage when you spindash into them spikes up) to throw them up into the air and hit the boss. It speeds up the boss fight alot quicker

One thing I would like to add (if it isn't already in it) if there were a way to swap from the console version songs to the PC version. When I played through Sonic 3 and Knuckles, it was on PC and I personally like those, I just thought it would be neat to add maybe an option in the menu to swap between the two in case there are a lot of others who feel like I do
