Damn straight. I'm tired of Genesis apologists telling me the Genesis port is the definitive edition when the Saturn soundtrack by Richard Jacques clearly SLAPS. Okay, Rusty Ruin and Volcano Valley is fire in both, but let's be honest the Saturn special stage theme here spits on, pisses on, and shits on the Genesis version. It's not even a comparison.

@Lyra Heartfold It had better music tracks (as it was running off a CD), a higher quality intro video (although the cutscene on the cartridge was crazy impressive for its time) and the levels had atmospheric and weather effects completely missing from the Genesis version.

This version is indeed better than Genesis one. But the draw distance was awful you couldn't notice mines or rings until it appear in front 1 meter of you

Honestly I think the ps1 would've did a great job porting this game to their console. Besides, the saturn and the ps1came out the same year 1994 so they really would've had some competition with each other.

Sonic 3D Blast came first, they made the 3D models for the special stages for 3D blast, and likely didn't take them from a game that they hadn't released yet, unless both were simultaneously in development (considering this is SEGA we're talking about I wouldn't be surprised).

@@mason2978 Sonic Adventure was basically a Saturn game ported over to the Dreamcast, they even have the old Modern Sonic model that they were probably going to use if Sonic Adventure still came out on the Saturn in Sky Chase(Dreamcast version). It’s basically just the Jam model but a little bit more lankier and with green eyes.

Yuji Naka decided to be janky and prioritize Nights into Dreams instead of Sonic. And now he’s on probation for criminal activities. Everything comes full circle I guess.

Well these were made officially by Sonic Team themselves these special stages. Not the rest of the game though.

I am a Hardcore SEGA Enthusiast, but even I know that 3DBlast on the Saturn was a Waste of time. It was programmed and ported there in just 8 weeks time.

It wouldn't have changed the Saturn's fate, but it was a great game. Whoeverr says otherwise wanted a DIFF game.

You wanted it to all be on rails? It takes time and horsepower to have these graphics in an open context.

@jeanjacqueslundi3502 Wouldn't want it on rails, but I'm saying that I wish the graphics of the entire game were like this, and the gameplay could've been more like the 3D Sonic World section of Sonic Jam. If they released 3D Blast like this, it could've maybe been an actual worthy competitor to Super Mario 64 opposed to what we got in the end.

Well, technically, it's from Sonic 2. This is also a remake of the Sonic 2 special stages. The Sonic 2 stages suck on the original Genesis version though.

Cause they're not. They're improved Sonic 2 special stages. These were super fun to play and probably still my favorite special stages of any Sonic game ever.

These Special Stages have improved on what made the S2 special stages awful and more. The whole thing is in 3d, meaning that you can see what's ahead. There's no partners, meaning no delayed movements and loss of rings. There's twists, banks, corkscrews, and drop offs with platforms above the landing. These heavily improve on S2's Special Stages.

@@segaunited3855 Do you know what the word rehashed means? Here's the definition: "reuse (old ideas or material) without significant change or improvement" These special stages are a significant improvement over the Sonic 2 special stages and there's plenty of new ideas here as well.

@@KenShackler In August 1996, Bernie Stolar had literally TWO guys at STI extract the Code to 3DBlast from Genesis and Load it onto Saturn's M68000 Sound CPU, both programmers used Sonic 2's Special Stage as Design Inspiration for the Halfpipe Special Stage of the Saturn port, they then designed the Stage using Saturn's VDP 1 and VDP2. 3D Blast on Saturn was programmed and coded in just 8 weeks time.

I guess, you have mistaken "Sonic R" with "Sonic 3D Blast" since the graphics in the special stage in Sonic 3D Blast is identical with the graphics from Sonic R.
