Hello everyone! Today, I will discuss what I want to see in the next mainstream Sonic game!
Fair Warning: This video was done days before the recent announcment of Sonic X Shadow Generations, but this more specifcally talking about the next mainstream Sonic game.

They should do remaster or collection with. All star racing and transforming but hey other reamke will be cool as well but it intersting to see your take on it and yeah I know we just got team racing but that not all star ❤❤❤😊plus next year is 15 th anniversary of all star but who know 🤔. I just loving sonic racing game 😊😊❤❤. I am pump if generations awesome video though. Cool to see them expand from movies and games

I think that replacing the puzzles in the open zone with the action chain challenges is a great idea. Revealing more of the map based on your ranking is more fitting for a Sonic game, than the puzzles where you have to stop to quickly solve it and never do it again. In my experience, I love the action chain challenges, they were really fun. I had to retry some of them and learn more about my surroundings to get the best possible ranking. I hope they ditch the puzzles in the open zone, in favor of the action chain challenges.

Do you guys remember the platforming section in the middle of the sea in Ares Island? The one we need to go to find the yellow chaos emerald? Or, the last cave section on Ouranos Isand? Well, i want the so called "action stages levels" to be designed with that kind of art aesthetics, instead of using the same blocky design of the previous games. I want those stages to have a more natural design. Now, for the chaos emeralds story involvement i've got an idea. What about 7 biomes, each representing the color and element of a chaos emerald and so a boss fight representing that chaos emerald. For example, the red emerald should represent fire, so what about a lava, volcanic biome and then a boss fight representing the fire, that red chaos emerald. The blue one representing the cosmos, the space, and so on. 7 biomes, 7 chaos emeralds, 7 emerald protectors deities. 21 stages (3 diferent stages/levels per biomes) 1 last big dungeon at the core of those biomes.

One idea I had: So what if the linear cyberspace style stages had the score system back (and hopefully a good ranking system using that score) and then at the end of the level you could use the score from that stage to buy things like cosmetics? And then each rank could be another tier of itens? This would encourage players to get a high score and rank

I think the best way to go about it is 1. Have a map design that calls back to sonics iconic locations, green hill zone, have a casino zone, have a eggman land zone, ice cap zone, volcanic zone, etc… 2. Use the open world purely for side missions and collectibles, keep main missions in the linear format that way you can have the best of both worlds. The best thing I can compare this to is halo infinite, it had the open world for exploration and linear missions for story

Since Sonic x Shadow Generations has been announced and the trailer pretty much shows the Shadow section will be using the same engine as Frontiers as well as having his own chaos abilities as part of his gameplay, i think Shadow should almost certainly be in the next mainline game

We also need a stlyish meter like in Devil May Cry with the highest meter being “Way Past Cool” When characters are have entered a boost mode that increases their strength and speed, They are shrouded with aura and their eye colors match their respective Aura. The HUD also matches the color of retrospective characters Sonic-Blue Tails-Yellow Knuckles-Red Amy-Pink Each character has unique movesets based on the character as well as attacks from SA2. Case in point, Knuckles’ Thunder arrow.

You should make a follow up on how these characters will grow in this game. Shadow finally swallows his pride and confesses why he became so selfish. Saying he doesn’t deserve to called Ultimate Lifeform.

I really loved every idea you talked about, however I also have a couple of ideas I wanna mention 1 The rings could be used as a source of energy (because they are) to do special attacks kinda like if Sonic boom (the attack) cost 1 ring for each shock wave, it would balance the move alot because you can't spam it forever 2 The cards for Amy could function like Dr.Faust from DMC 5 and it would work perfectly I do have more ideas but they're more of gameplay tweaks so they're not that important

i just can't imagine bigger budget frontiers style game. SXS generations already have shadow's stages that looked like cyberspace style just with bigger budget and refreshing themes. They have many potential since the updates actually introduced some possibilities such as unique other playable characters in term of combat.

In terms of art style, I think using Crash 4 as a comparison is a good start. It's authentic to the original designs while emphasising the cartoonish over-the-top nature of its characters. It also is able to look visually stunning without using cel shading (which I'd argue isn't something in-line with Sonic's art style). Sonic games have always sought more realistic lighting effects and Crash 4 does that well.

Yeah, Crash 4 is a good example, but the difference between Sonic and Crash is that the former would strive for an "anime" look while the latter always went for a "Looney Tunes" look, but Sonic taking notes from Crash 4 is great as well

the number one thing that needs to be changed is the combat. just base it on pso2, frontiers already uses animations from it.

I just hope the next open world map is one big island with different biomes and i want the world to be more stylized like Sonic Prime. I dont want big generic forests i wanna see classic sonic levels turned into explorable biomes. Id rather see an open world with a cartoon feel that matches sonic than a realistic but lifeless world

@@kjbroadway9557 like that and also stuff like what SA2 did with Green Hill zone but instead of just a level make it a part of a larger map. Imagine running through Green Hill and running through or around landmarks that were features in the og games like the loops de loop and into another biome from another game Maybe some parts of the map have more eggman influence so we get areas like the chemical plant zone or the casino night zone. Idk just a thought

They could do that and introduce a new clan of Echidnas. They could even have it where the this new clan of Echidnas worship a wind god which or may not be connected to the ancients

I firmly believe the next mainstream sequel to Frontiers should *NOT* have more playable characters than Sonic. They haven't perfected Sonic yet. There's so much more they need to do with Sonic himself - animations need a LOT more polish, his moveset needs a lot of tweaks, and the open zones need to be designed around him. If they truly want Sonic to compete with Mario as they said, they need a game teeming with polish and great visuals. Spreading development and animation time across several playable characters not only hinders that, but also hinders the gameplay. Sonic Team do not have the size or budget to accomplish several playable characters to the "Mario" standard they want to achieve. They need to focus on Sonic and perfect him. People don't realise how small Sonic Team is from how it used to be - it lost it's most talented devs to Nintendo. Asking for more playable characters is just asking for another 7/10 game full of crappy animations and poorly designed levels.

I get that Sonic Team should spent more time on polishing, but when only a fraction of the team did Final Horizons with three more playable characters and the general consensus is that it's good(not to mention that FH was done in less than a year at most), Sonic Team pretty much proved their capable of having more characters in the next game. Also, Sonic Team got a budget increase and are getting more employees(close to 300 IIRC).

I have to disagree there. They should have more playable characters, but as always unlock the other characters later. In fact, have each character have his or her own story mode.

If they're gonna asset flip why not take stuff from that racing game no one played? Frozen Junkyard is supposed to look cobbled together so they could use that. Reusing level designs is just scamming the player imo

It has potential for a sequel but remember the b-I mean sonic fans always saying “sonic utopia is better than frontiers” “SEGA be lazy, we do what sega can’t” might happen after the game releases so it’s better off to not have a sequel.

To be honest, who cares? People are going to have different opinions no matter and Sonic Team, and majority of other people, believed that a follow-up to Frontiers is great for Sonic.
