Maybe Surge & Kit could have their own spinoff game where they try to discover who they were before Starline ruined their lives

Here’s my suggestion. Introduce a self insert for the audience, like Barry. And have them question who these comic book characters are. Then we get the standard exposition. 😉

I think I remember Ian Flynn being asked about this to which he said there would probably be some small info dump to get the jist of the character and that’s it, people don’t need to know their entire baclstory if it’s not important for the current story

Maybe after the big arc, they'll get shown in the games, and for that, they could have bios in some sort of, I don't know, a extra menu? Like oh they did it for sonic and the black knight, for instance.

i think they could go about it is that they reference parts of their personality and/or backstory through dialogue. it’s a similar situation with mighty,Ray, and Gemeral. They have appeared in games but not that often so newer fans wouldn’t know them

It really depends on the character I think, but for most of them I don't think it has to be that big a deal In my view the most efficient way to go about it for the heroic characters would be to start by bringing fans of the games up to speed with how the Resistance has transformed into the Restoration since Forces, like in a cutscene or something. And with that, most of the work is done, honestly? Once you've established that the game characters are involved with the Restoration and have been for some time, it wouldn't feel unnatural or unexpected that they'd be familiar with some of the people in it, which is like, all of the comics' cast of heroes at this point Of those, the only one who particularly warrants further elaboration is Belle (since she's a puppet and all), which could just be a brief line or two about her being an abandoned creation of Eggman's who joined the heroes Surge and Kit are a bit trickier since their backstory is pretty relevant to _why_ they hate the heroes, so for stuff like that I think some flashbacks would be required if they were to play a big role But anything else could just either be peppered in as needed with expository dialogue or included in optional character bios tucked away in a menu or something; I think this idea some people seem to have that they'd need to redo everything by having Sonic meet them for the first time again is kinda silly

I would suggest just bring out a new Sonic Riders game. It will please fans, introduce the characters, give them all character bios, with may optional content that reveals more about them, like buying a video in the shop that deep dives into different characters, and if they wanna keep things canon with the comics with Starline, just have Eggman build a robot of him or something. May not be perfect, but I think at the very least a spin off game would do the trick to make their inclusion more seamless.

Now we just need a mega man idw comics and a pac-man and the ghostly adventures idw comics with idw characters to become canonic too

Personally, I think a Mario + Rabbids style spin off would be a great way to introduce them. Hell all down to the gameplay Give the Guns another chance. Just so that Many sonic fans can know the horrors of pressing a shotgun Wispon to an Egg Pawn with a 96% chance of hitting only to have RNgesus kick them in the balls over and over again. All jokes aside. A tactical RPG with the Sonic cast is far from a bad Idea. We most definitively have the variety of skills to make one extremely fun.

i think what could happen is that they make game adaptions of some of the arcs in the idw comics. i think they would prolly do imposter syndrome first because surge.

I'm with you on the voice actors part, you guys brought these characters to life and made them feel so alive and filled with emotions, Surge's explosive anger, Kit's stuttering, Whisper's.... Well, whispers. So, yeah, having you guys be the official voice actors for these characters would be a great one up for both the channel and the games these guys would be introduced in.

Another issue is that with multiple of those characters you have to also explain how a platypus with Eggman obsession was involved

The only idw character I'd like to see in the games is Belle the Tinkerer. I'd like to see how she would react ot interact with her new sister Sage.

If people by now dont know whose those beloved IDW Characters are by now, then they're definetly gonna Learn sooner rather than later! I dont care how Sega introduces them, all i know is i'm gonna be hyped as hell when they Eventually make a console appearance, Especially if they're playable from the Jump!

There is no need to introduce those characters in the games. Just have them make appearances. If the makers of the game(s) want to, they can put the character(s) information in the instruction manual like they used to. If fans want to know more about a character, they can do their own research.

Honestly i think this situation would be WAY easier if Sonic Team made more people aware about IDW Like the sheer lack of knowledge IDW Sonic has and is only spread around by other fans is ridiculous. And no, Sonic mentioning Tangle ONCE in Frontiers or adding some of the IDW cast to mobile games isnt "making fans aware" of IDW. At the very least make some kind of twitter post or youtube short going over and advertising the comic. It cannot be that difficult

Personally, I don’t believe anything about them being canon unless if I see them on screen. But even then we still don’t need them at the moment, because we already have so many characters that never got a chance to shine so you just basically want to add more to make the franchise even more crowded.

That would be awfully confusing for Japanese fans since the translation is really behind and the Tangle and Whisper mini series seems to have been skipped from what I've seen.

Well I mean, they said it was a POSSIBILITY. They never said they'd actually do it. And yeah, it would be extremely difficult to introduce them in the games since tons of people don't know about the comics. So like I said before, these characters should just remain in the IDW comics only. 3:09 And wait, who would you recommend to voice those characters?

I think the real problem with making a full side-story/game for the IDW characters would be the fact that Sega really likes to reinforce Sonic being the main character... a lot... a little too much, actually. (Another real problem here is the damn timeline... I mean, there's too much space between Frontiers and where the comics take place...) However, I believe a good start would be to take it slow, starting with the next Olympic Games, then maybe a brief reference or appearance in the (possibly) next Smash Bros game for the next Nintendo console. After establishing that firm base where the fans who don't know about them will do some research, then that's when the trigger can be pulled and a mainline appearance is ready to be on the books All my opinion, though, so sue me if you don't like the idea (actually don't, please... I don't wanna be sued)

Whisper and tangle will be the easiest. Those two characters have become such a big part of the Comics that this technically not 100% confirmed Lasbian couple, but come on, just look at them, they will definitely appear in the games. As for Lanolin the Sheep I'm not 100% sure

Sega is definitely not making a game for these guys hell I'm surprised blaze the cat got 2 and was playable in sonic 06 they will introduce these characters like every one knows them and you will have to go in extras about characters and read there blog character profile or whatever might be a short video in there or something or even a comic you can read you know how they do lol

I and many others don't like this dumb thing to make the Idw comics canon It was a mistake it should of stay it's own thing and i hope to god they fix this and see it was a mistake If they wanted these characters to be in the games they can just introduce them as new Characters and not just have them be the same ones from the comics it's very simple Like you don't need to make the comics canon to introduce them at all Like i swear they can't do smart discussions these days like other company's do
