In sonic's story the master emerald is taken by heavy king which is why/how he powers up and alters his body b4 the true final boss

Maybe the Phantom ruby killed the power of the master emerald because you see its not green in knuckles story, and it only has a little bit of power left just to power the heavy king.

I mean it's quite possibly Angel island has a small lake-ocean beach off the jungle area that has it's own confined water space. Didn't bother me at all. Heck it's the same wtf-ery shown in the floating islands in from the Sonic OVA. Same premise.

Less of a step forward for the series and more of a step back to point out what worked in the three or so Sonic that 90s kids grew up with. I really would have liked to see them take what made those games work and improve it in some way, or add a new spin, instead of just a 1-1 recreation of the Genesis formula. But I guess I can appreciate it as a love letter by fans, for fans.

My biggest issue with this game was the ending. The cliffhanger/slash tie in or whatever with Sonic Forces is fucking awful and even as an ending it pales in comparison to it's predecessors mainly Sonic CD. That's another thing the intro is fully animated but the ending is this weird clipart. It would've been nice to have an ending that recaps everything that happened during the game with the same animation quality as the intro. Another thing is the missing stage transitions in the later half of the game. This wouldn't be a problem if there weren't stage transitions at all but they do exists and to have them disappear and reappear in some but not all of the stages later on makes the game look rushed out and unfinished. Because of this it makes the story in the end not make sense and it's up to us (the fans) to guess how they got from an underground water level to being up in the sky. Flying the Tornado. Oh did I mentioned Knuckles tagged along with them. Would've been nice to find out how and when their paths crossed but whatever. Gameplay wise I have no big issues just some nitpicks. Some of the new stages are pretty short and blasting through them is incredibly easy and sometimes you can miss out some of the fun gimmicks the stages have to offer like the lottery dome in Studiopolis Act 2. Also had issues with Super Sonic. I love using him and I like his theme isn't a repetitive 3 second loop of the invisibility theme. At the same time I would like to have the option to turn his theme off and the ability to transform back to normal Sonic and friends. Despite those issues I still go back to this game because it's so fun to play and the gameplay is for the most part solid. The stages are incredibly fun and the music is my second favorite in the series. I would say it's my personal favorite game of this year. I just hope the issues that I had (mainly the unfinished story) will be fixed with a possible sequel.

When I was 16 or 17 years old. So, knowing all that, I hope people can see where I'm coming from and understand when I say that *I DO **_NOT_** GIVE A SINGLE SOLITARY FLYING FUDGCICLE ABOUT THE PIXELATED RETRO STYLED GENESIS-ESQUE SONIC GAMES. AT ALL.* Again, I'm happy other people are happy. But I am not. in 2017, all you retro people got Sonic Mania. I got Forces. and no, I'm not gonna "give Mania a try". it's not just Sonic; I don't care at all about ANY video game from before 1996. any games from the 16 bit era and before are not even remotely close to having what I like about video games. I like story driven gameplay, I like being able to control the camera. I like 3 dimensions of movement. I don't care about 2d side-scrollers or 2d top downs.
