I just guess yuji naka had a mindset of "Too big to fail", he didn't mind sabbotaging the company cause Sega was one of the big companies, "they will get thru this"

I guess in hindsight, Yuji Naka really needed to work it out, think it out, talk about his resentment for the Nights build of Sonic X-Treme.

I love the Sega Saturn, but I can kinda see why Sonic fans were disappointed. But there were so many other games on the Saturn that I can almost brush it off.

Hey, what a coincidence! I just bought a Japanese sega Saturn on eBay today. I recently started playing NiGHTS on steam and loved it enough to shell out the money so I could play the original.

Saturn era Sonic is genuinely one of my favorite eras for the seires, for it's crazy ideas and polygonal models alone. The Saturn flopped, but I love mine to death and the games I have for it. Sonic Jam alone is worth checking the console out. Amazing video as always!

A spectacular RPG/Strategy game called DRAGON FORCE. Was so far ahead of it's time, had 101 player's characters vs 101 enemy battles; a type match-up advantage ratings system; reai-time field commands; visually impressive special abilities for your Generals which you could change and upgrade; and 7 different Kingdoms to choose from with tons of storyline variations it had massive replay ability! Still one of my top 10 games of all time.

I love the Sega Saturn era of Sonic even though I don’t own a Saturn. Sonic R is actually one of my favorite games ever and I hope someday I get to play Sonic Jam and the Saturn version of 3D blast. It’s such a weird period of Sonic’s history but I think that just makes it all the more interesting.

Between the "Sonic World" part of "Sonic Jam", "Sonic R", and "Sonic The Hedgehog Into Dreams", Sega would have enough to make a true 3D Sonic engine...

honestly i would use those sonic jam jars to hold my normal jams and jellies like id buy a jar of strawberry jelly and immediately transfer it all to the knuckles dimension

I had no idea that actual edible jam was made that coincided with the release of Sonic Jam on the Saturn. I own the game, but have been debating getting Sonic 3D Blast as well. I've tried Sonic R and absolutely despise it.

One thing I noticed is while many people claim that Sonic Lost World is a Super Mario Galaxy rip-off, I think that game is actually an homage and inspired by Sonic X-treme. You can see it, but it sucks that people for some reason don't see this connection.

That's what I always thought as well, even the Deadly Six are inspired on one of X-treme drafted stories.

There was a robotic Knuckles in the first Sonic Advance, but not the same one from Sonic R.

God, I hope the final Xtreme build leaks one day, I have to play it Also there was another cancelled game Sonic Saturn that was gonna be repurposed for a bowling game in 3d blast, but they ended up cutting that. Oh, and a Sonic the Fighters port

Has anyone _ever_ considered making a proper "Metal Tails" character instead of just using the "Tails Doll"? In "Sonic R" alone, "Metal Tails" would be a *better* version of Tails, as "Metal Knuckles" is a better version of Knux...

Glad the OG Yuji Naka stepped in to cancel X-Treme. Game looked like an absolute train wreck. Sonic Team delivered with Adventure

Actually he wasn't the main reason for it's cancellation. And at the time the project was at it's cancellation, it was actually shaping up to become something confident with the Project Condor phase, and this phase used an engine similar to Nights but didn't outright copy it.

@@Turbulation1 regardless I'm glad X-Treme wasn't Sonic's first 3D outing. Sonic Team should have always been given the honor of introducing the blue blur into three dimensions

@@Brian-bw9fh while I do understand that, I do think it was admirable for STI to try and do their own take on a 3D sonic, a good amount of people we’re definitely passionate for the project and sonic himself. Especially when Sonic Team were busy with another game.

Yuji Naka really was quite a dick at times, the fact he was was quite clearly in the mindset of this'll never work and so he quite clearly sabotaged the progress They'd made on the game
