This reminds me of how someone also made an Improvement hack for the Super Mario World NES Bootleg game. That hack made that game significantly better and much more playable (as well as greatly improved the visuals).

I think it's important to acknowledge that while Somari is indeed a buggy mess of a game, it's most likely cause of the nature of how these original bootleg games were even made. When Famiclone consoles first hit markets that Nintendo at the time had yet to establish they sold extremely well partially because a lot of these clones came with multicarts full of early 1983-1985 Famicom releases as those games can run on the base Famicom hardware without special mapper chips. As the years gone on however and the 16-bit generation was upon us those 8-bit Famiclones became cheaper and cheaper to manufacture and coupled with the fact that countless dev teams started forming around this time this resulted in the creation of many "original" games that were not licensed by any of the respective copyright owners. These game projects while not a great, were pretty much your only option as good luck getting a 16-bit Mega Drive or Genesis when the market you're shopping in is dominated by affordable Famiclones.

The sprites look really good indeed! Definitely better than the Master System sprites, but nothing tops the Sonic Pocket Adventure one when it comes to 8-bit Sonic. Also have fun at Too Many Games!

You are kinda right sonic improvement is a better version of somari but there is a game on the nes called sonic 3d blast 5 the first zone is spring yard zone and sonic in somari form so sonic improvement is base on sonic 3d blast 5 on nes witch is base on somari they just changed the sprites and music also there alot of version of somari like speed hummer and family kid just a name a few
