@@Celestia282 With how the second movie ends I think there is an opportunity/excuse to have a cartoonish CGI Eggman and at that point they can just have Mike Pollock who voices him in the games do the movie role. It'll suck not having Jim as Eggman but it seems better than the alternative which is someone else playing him live action and I just don't see that working

He actually is contracted for Sonic 3 so he will be appearing in the movie next year as well thankfully =)

The second film, the references are a little more clear, but that's mainly because they're building up plot points for movie 3 and they decided to introduce certain things early so people knew what they were talking about. Also funny thing about movie 2. Inordinate number of Sonic X references. I can't help but wonder if there's a long term reason they did that.

I wouldn't call franchise that managed quite well jump into cartoon media in 90s, have long running comic series and stay relevant for years overrated... It is basically one of the most strongest game based media that succesfully diversified into cartoons, comics and now even movie series. Mario who had arguably more stable success with games only had ONE cartoon series and only NOW is getting a movie. Sonic already has: - 3 cartoons in 90s (one of which people still wish had a 3rd season), Anime in 2000s, Sonic Boom cartoons (3 SEASONS!) in 2010s and Sonic Prime in 2020s. - 3 comic series - Fleetway, Archie, IDW - and comics are still running. - 2 box office success movies (like the biggest earners among everyone in theather who aired at the same time) Overrated franchise, yeah right. Tons of game mascots wish they were so "overrated". Oh and Sonic Frontiers just sold 3 million copies.

Honestly, it looks like he's a classic fanboy. He liked Sonic 1 (somehow) and Sonic 2, but probably fell off during the early 2000s, as you will recall they were primarily Sony kids (and thus missed out on the better versions of the Adventure games). They also mentioned that it would be too hard for them to keep up with all that fast-reaction stuff, so there's that too.

@@Ghostel3591 I know that bud, but when look at other franchises like GTA, Gow, Pokémon, Mario, etc. Sonic starts to fall behind HARD, Frontiers took months to get to 3 million copies, meanwhile in 3 days the new Pokémon game made 10 million that's more than 3x what Sonic managed to make.

Only Pokemon and Mario is stronger there and for a reason. And only one franchise has full media coverage - Mario took 30 years to make another attempt at Big Screen. And then compare it to other Mascot driven games for example Crash N'sane Trilogy - it took them 5 month to get to 2.5mil of sold copies (and they released the game when there were literally 0 competition) - Sonic Frontiers reached 3mil sold copies by the end of december after being released basically with ONE DAY difference with GoW:R around December 8 2022. Just for comparison sake let's take sales of Persona 5, then add Royal and both spinoffs (Strikers, Dancing)... And according to reports From September 15 2016 to December 1st of 2022 all 4 games sold in total 8,3mil copies. One blue hedgehog reached the number of 3 mil copies in the SAME MONTH. Yakuza 7 sold only 300.000 copies in 2 weeks after its release. And both Yakuza and Persona series were considered one of the strongest franchises under Sega. Sonic franchise indeed can look weaker when you pit it against supreme juggernauts of franchises... But compared to any other? Or he is strong... He is going hella strong for 30+ year old franchise.

Sonic was born in the games, while the franchise it still going strong and have a lot more diversity in places you can find it. You can't deny that franchise isn't lacking a bit behind from a franchise that used to be on par with the big names of the industry, heck, if we look at the movies part. The Mario movie made 1.3 BILLION, something that not the 2 Sonic movies COMBINED managed to make. Look, I love Sonic from classic to modern, I still follow the franchise all the way to nowadays and defend it strongly as a franchise that I feel like people really overlook, underestimate and don't give a proper chance. But it's hard to deny that Sonic while still going strong and growing, no longer is on that level he used to, considered of the kings of video games, being in par with Mario and even superior to it. It But I hope that with the new direction that the franchise is going, Sonic can start growing again and be reach on the levels of that titans again like he was once because he deserves it.

I mean the first movie crawled so the second could run. But the second movie dose take the cake for filme with most useless story moments. But Thinking it over i think they might have add those B plots in to cut down on CG

The portal rings make sense, they're just the big rings that transport you to the special zones in the game combined with the regular rings basically, pretty clever tbh

the issue is more that most Sonic games released in my lifetime are bad. basically just Sonic Adventures 2, Sonic Colours, and Sonic Frontiers. of course there are tons of great games but most of them are older than I am. the issue is that the franchise has certainly struggled to make good games in more recent years and that's led to the perception of most of the games being bad because people fail to see the older games and instead only look at the more recent string of failures.

We totally get it. But the reason we do this is unfortunately due to watch time. Only about 10% of people stick through for the end discussion so the longer we talk the more it hurts the videos overall potential performance It is a bummer for us as well. We obviously would love if more people cared about our discussions at the end but it’s unfortunately a small minority. But I get it, people are clicking a reaction not a review or discussion and what not

@@SortaStupid Yeah when you put it that way I completely understand, and it really is a shame because one of things I know most people hate is when the reactor(s) repeatedly pause the video to very briefly talk about what’s going on in a scene, or to give their thoughts on the plot, and try to guess what’s going to happen next, but I luv those moments. It’s the mini discussions y’all have during the reactions that make me crave the post discussions. You guys are really fun & funny so I can only imagine how great those post discussions must be.
