Can we just respect the fact that the director actually listened to what we wanted and improved the cgi flaws for us?

People forget that towards the end of the movie, the reason why the military general gave Tom an olive garden gift card, was to imply that they were tapping into Tom's phone listening to his conversations with his wife the whole time. When he told his wife "The only app I have is olive garden" the military heard that and knew it was of Tom's interest. That's why they gave him the gift card. It was in a way of the military saying "we're watching you" 😉

I kid you not, at the D I V O R C E scene some kid in my theater yells “WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?” And the entire theater loses it

Post credit scene: Pikachu shows up "I want to start a Smash team"

The fact that this movie isn’t SH!T is a miracle in its self.

The director even thanked the fans for the success of the movie, they deserve the success they are having

James Marsden is one of those guys that is insanely attractive but never plays the hot guy in any of his films.

The end credits scene should have been Mario coming into Sonics room at night and saying “Mr. Sonic, your part of a bigger universe, you just don’t know it yet. I’m here to talk to you about the super smash bros initiative”

I think those product placements were put in for the redesign lol. Get some of that money back.

I really only watched the movie to see Jim Carrey in an over-the-top villainous role. I was not dissapointed

It’s a good solid movie. Fun for kids and for parents.

What attracted Jim Carrey to this project more than anything else was that his daughter was a big fan of the Sonic the Hedgehog games growing up. The "Mushroom Planet" directly evokes Mushroom Hill Zone from the first level of Sonic & Knuckles (1994). In that zone the various mushrooms could be used as springs and platforms for Sonic to jump on. There is a Chaos Emerald drawn on Sonic's map. Many Sonic games revolve around Sonic's efforts to collect the seven Chaos Emeralds. When Sonic starts rolling along the ground, two sounds from the games play simultaneously: the iconic "Spin Attack" sound, and the "Dash Pad" sound. The ring sound effect from the games is heard when Sonic catches a ring with his quill in midair. Tom (and Sonic) live in Green Hills, Montana. While this is not a real place, there is a luxury property in Montana called Green Hills Ranch. The Flash is seen to be Sonic's favorite superhero. Both are speedster heroes, obviously. Sonic's bare feet are never shown. Tails is voiced by Colleen O'Shaughnessey, who has voiced the character since 2014. Just like he did in the games, Miles "Tails" Prower shows up in time for the sequel, in a post-credits sequence.

This was a surprisingly well done film! Very cliche, many logic gaps, and two bad hard edit points, but so, so much fun to watch! James Marsden does a great job as the everyman, Jim Carrey just evil enough to be a bad guy, not scary enough to be too much for a kids film. I think there are SEVERAL sequels in the future!

"Dr Robitnik has complete authority to do anything, like blow up highways." *Remembers the government sent a giant truck the size of a street to chase sonic, destroying everything in the way in Sonic Adventure 2* Yeah so the government not caring how far he goes is actually probably logical.

Loved Sonic the Hedgehog! It has more heart than any film I've seen in recent memory. I left the theater feeling good and smiling. I'm STILL smiling. There's a reason it has a Rotten Tomatoes viewer score of 96%.

I love that they got Olive Garden, instead of, you know, the fast food chain that shares the name: Sonic's 🤣

Out of all the restaurants they could've used for sponsorships, they went with Olive Garden and not Sonic? Missed opportunity!

The best thing this movie does was make me care about the human characters and their interactions with Sonic, especially Tom. That alone makes it worth it because as you said, Hollywood tends to focus too much on the humans even if they're unbelievably boring.

I saw the movie on Valentine's day with my father, thus stapling it into my memory as some of the best moments of my life.

Product placement? Well they had to pay for the redesign somehow

They missed a golden opportunity to do a product placement with Sonic, where Sonic eats a Sonic chili dog

When I watched a bunch of reviews, people said that the product placement of Olive Garden and Zillow were forced greatly. Honestly when I watched it today, they said the word Zillow once, and the second reference to Olive Garden was part of a joke that honestly made me chuckle a bit. I feel as though a lot of people who criticized this were just reaching for problems in the film. Anyways I thought the action and goofiness of the movie made it a fun time.

Sega and Sonic were a big part of my childhood. I’m 40 yrs old now. I admit I got a little choked up when the Sega intro came on screen right before the movie started...it was awesome to see Sega in the spotlight again! 😃

I know what I'm doing tomorrow: I'm going to see Sonic, then going to Olive Garden. Sounds like a great day.

The movie was literally Sonic 1; It was awesome when I went to see it yesterday: 9/10 due to the strong faithfulness of it's Sonic history references and allusions as well as Jim Carrey's legendary "comedic insanity" performance as Robotnik, but then changed to 10/10 due to considering the plot being original to some degree as well as a question that came to my mind regarding Sonic's origins of his iconic speed ability. Finally change it once more to 11/10 due to Tails appearing and a sequel coming in the end.

The move was so relatable. Sonic, who was my favorite, was the most. When he said he was lonely even with the people who were his so-called friends, I felt that. I feel the same way. When he was pretending to win baseball and felt proud of himself but realized no one was watching him, I felt that too. I have always had people that I call my friends but deep down I am still lonely.

7:30 I'm not American, so I thought "Olive Garden" was a pleasant green plain dotted with loop the loops and small aggressive robot squirrels. But it's actually a shitty chain restaurant. I had the same awful realisation when I found out what 'Mountain Dew' actually was...

i didnt even notice the Zillow ad when they showed it. I was blown away by the $4200 per month for rent in SF.

I enjoyed it and the kids in the theater were losing their minds in excitement, and it was pretty great. The after credits scene made a little girl in front of me jump up and pump her fist in the air with every ounce of excitement she had. If they are trying to please the next generation, they did a good job.

They gave Sonic heart and emotion. This movie is great. I absolutely love this interpretation of Sonic's character. And holy shit, he's really powerful in this film.

Jim Carrey, Sonic and Tails were the only cartoon characters in this movie.

Fun Fact: Jeff Fowler went to Ringling College of Art and Design, the film school I currently go to!

If someone told me after the first trailer that Sonic was gonna destroy a DCEU film at the box office, I wouldn’t have believed them. But here we are.

The highlight of the movie for me was definitely Jim Carry/Eggman's presence. Without him, I wouldn't really enjoy it as much.

To everyone saying “It’s just a kids movie” I just have to ask, is Star Wars a kids movie? Should we not criticize Episode 9? Oh, no you’re saying while Episode 9 is meant for children it’s also made for adults, especially those who grew up with the franchise..... that’s sounds a lot like Sonic now doesn’t it? Is Sonic not a kids movie? You see this is all so dumb, where do we draw the line? you can make a good kids movie, you can make a bad kids movie, and if you have to say “it’s just a kids movie” to defend a movie then you’re really only trying to justify why it’s bad rather say why it’s good. It’s a product, you can criticize it.

I think you're way off saying that you have to have some pre-existing connection to Sonic to enjoy this movie. I actually have never played a Sonic game or watched anything related to Sonic and I LOVED it! 9/10 for me.
