One of the things I like about this compilation in particular is seeing the way Scott has grown over the years. You can really hear the difference between Sonic 1 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

Okay, simple synopsis from me regarding Sonic CD in one phrase: "Style over Substance". It looks cool, it sounds amazing, but that's at the cost of the gameplay. It feels more like a glorified tech demo than an actual fully realized Sonic project.

Am I the only one who finds it ironic that sonic was supposed to be in a band, cancelled that idea and made sonic underground 8 years later.

My dad hated spending money on games so he would always get me the cheapest possible. My copy of Sonic 2 was inside a Sonic 1 box and included a manual for Tail Spin. Both games are just one huge game to me now

I love how we can see how his style had eveolved in each season, sicne he made these sonic videos just once a year

Sonic 1 the trick to get straight to the emeralds is simple...Do not touch anything until you arrive near the emerald. Sonic will go straight to it if you dont touch any buttons. Obviously you got break the obstacles to obtain them but to find it...dont touch anything

The stats showed 6 million Sega CD's sold until just a few years ago when everyone somehow just accepted a little over 2 million had sold. It's like a lot of things today... people misinterpret or deliberately change history to their liking.

Seems no ones mentioned that the border for the sonic 1 episode has shrunk to be like the episodes starting with and following Madden 08 christmas (except for borderline forever) instead of the thicker one used for (most of) season 1.

I think the color palette of the level makes a huge difference for if I enjoy it or not. I could play a Sonic game full of nothing but Green Hill zones. Sonic CD nailed it for the most part

No mention of the infamous “Barrel” in Carnival Night? That barrel that caused most of us pure hell, running the clock out AGAIN AND AGAIN just to learn how to pass it by pure accident? You know the programmers did that to get a good laugh at our expense!

Despite being a Nintendo Kid since getting an NES for Christmas '88 and an SNES on release, when I saw the first Sonic commercial on TV (I think during Magical World of Disney on some random Sunday night) I was blown away... I kept waiting for it to air again with my finger on the VCR record button. I finally got it and spent hours analyzing every frame. Did not appreciate the mud slinging at Mario but other than that, it was a huge turning point for Genesis. Games were pretty clunky and desaturated before then with stuff like Altered Beast and Strider acting as representatives of the system. Sonic was colorful, fast, and just felt.. modern. I still think that Nintendo won the first console war eventually but for a brief moment, Sonic's light was bright and everyone took notice.

i grew up with mega collection plus on my dad’s ps2, moved on to adventure 2 battle on my gamecube (and by gamecube i mean the wii i got the same year as my gamecube), then played colors but never beat it. i never touched the “dark era” games, aside from secret rings’s tutorial stage. overall, i’d call myself a fan.

Sonic 3 & Knuckles was my favorite. Sonic CD and 3D Blast were my least favorite, when it comes to the Genesis/CD era.

4:00 while it has all sort of issues especially with the rushed port of sonic 3 and only recent plus addon adding Knucles as playable in Sonic cd. Sonic Origins is the closest that we most likely will get in terms of Sonic 1 and 2 wide screen mobile ports on home consoles and pc. Also it's rather expensive in my opinion 39€ for bunch of great but old and often re-released games is bit much. though overall other than the horrible versions of the Sonic 3 leaked beta and sonic 3 pc port on windows 95 songs. the compilation is still great way to experience the old classics in widescreen mode and with all the little extras from the mobile port included.

When you get all the chaos emeralds in Sonic 1, you get super Sonic.
