Sonic is still heroic and determined to defeat ALWLA (short version) but he is much more aggressive, angry and straight up brutal. He’s still Sonic but more negative.

Yeah, even as a kid, I could feel how raw and brutal this fight was. The rage and sorrow were especially poignant after Shara's death (I could feel Sonic's grief). Plus the way both of their bodies are forcefully mutated is so atypical for a standard "good vs evil" fight.

SolarisTheTitan MDX i think it was cause the collector didn’t (Sonic) die but it was someone else so the transformation still happened but no control and also incomplete cause he already got the power of all the rings

@@Sunny_Day8007 Correct; Alf Laiya Wa Laiya was incomplete because the sacrifice of the collector of the rings (Sonic) wasn't the one sacrificed, the offering was accepted but in turn it got corrupted. Both Darkspine and ALWA were just fractions of power that the Seven world rings can actually grant to a user when the sacrifice is done correctly. Put in other words, that who has the correct sacrifice... to put it in a way (will sound weird), takes the body or power or potential to fully wield the power of the rings. In a sense if you think about it, we don't know the full transformation the world rings give, thus that part of the game remains unknown.

i always believed Alf Layla Wa Layla was incomplete because he lacked Sadness, he had great joy and pleasure in getting his wish, the seven rings and likely prayed for such power, he housed a great rage and hatred for sonic and many other people and things but not once did he show any Sadness especially at a time when it was tested most, Shara someone who he likely has known for a long time, he felt nothing when killing her and simply mocked how weak a Genie of the Ring is.

Maybe that's the reason why sonic is darkspine, but I did notice that darkspine sonic has the werehog voice.

And thus, Sonic became Vergil.

Through out the game, some lines could’ve benefited from a take 2, but the heart & grit is palpable throughout. I love Jason-Sonic, since this game. 🥲

Super is still stronger because Super is complete and Darkspine is not, but with only three of the World Rings, he already managed to do this damage, with all the rings, Darkspine would be as strong or even stronger than Hyper.

In a way, it symbolizes Sonic as a conduit to power and how he can control it even without said full power. In this game, he has 3 of the 7 World Rings, incomplete and imbued with dark power. In Unleashed, Sonic is merged with a small amount of Dark Gaia's power. His werehog forme is a conduit for the incomplete power of Dark Gaia he possesses, with him channeling another form of dark energy.

Erazor isn't seen as the rightful owner of the rings as he didn't collect them, the 3 Sonic has are being used to full capacity while Erazor's 4 are nerfed.
