Ngl, I like this rendition of Shadow is one of the best. Granted, he is still portrayed like an edge lord who doesn't need friends (though we all know that you're strong with them, Shads. We all remember Sonic 06 and how it did your arc with justice), but we do see him be honest with himself and is still keeping his promise to Maria.

Yeah. You know the writers weren't great if even the main character didn't like the writing. I'm not really focused on storylines in Sonic, but there were areas where even I felt the writing and storytelling was to put it bluntly, totally sucks, and I'm not just talking about Ian Flynn's predecessors here.

Shadow has rocket shoes. Sonic has frictionless sneakers. It's really quite simple. Sonic learned to run on grass and dirt, always burning out his shoes and ruining people's lawns. So Tails invented frictionless sneakers so he could run at full speed without worrying about that. Shadow was created on the ARK, in space, with smooth metal floors. As soon as he'd get up to any kind of speed, he'd be slipping and sliding everywhere to try and stop, so Gerald made the rocket shoes. They also give him a boost when he's in space.

@Dakota Matheson But when you turn off the lights in a room, the darkness doesn’t appear in any particular space until the all light in transit reaches that point, meaning it takes the same time for a room to become dark as it does light. Assuming that sonic can run at the speed of light and we ignore a lot of other issues with physics, he would be able to keep with the same waves of light forever.

This just hit me. I remember this episode of The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog where Sonic had his shoes stolen. Seeing if he can still run without them, he nearly gives his feet blisters. So neither Sonic nor Shadow can run fast without shoes.
