Wow a mod that fixes the dropdash in 3d. I wish they could've done that for the spindash in generations.

Well, they work differently, so it makes sense I guess. The drop dash didn't break the vanilla game, it just didn't do anything. I guess the guy behind the mod found a way to custom code it to propell you forwards in 3D.

Classic In generations suck. The fact Classic hid during generations at the start is like he never existed. The fact you have to do challenges just makes me hate generations. modern sonic in classic stages were good but Classic makes me want to die 6293836 Times

Hypersonicisawsome To me this personally doesn't come close to a worthy "SA3 title". First of, both SA1 and SA2 had the key elements: * Sonic with homing attack * Every character with their modern design * Multiply playable characters * A story that expand on all of them Gameplay alone that associetes itself to the adventure games somewhat should not be called SA3 (Imo). Since that implies that lost world could be approached as SA3.. Which is actually a generic Nintendo mascot game with Sonic, badniks, the characters and green hill slapped on top. That doesn't make it SA3 at all.. Not even Classic Sonic for that matter. However, with the series so split to a point where it cannot fully agree on what makes a good Sonic game.. No wonder people are divided on the idea of what Sonic Adventure 3 even means.

Sonic Lost World? I'm actually offended when I hear that. Lost World doesn't come close to a Classic Sonic game Imo. The only strong argument would be the green hill zone pallets in the windy valley, which gives nostalgia vibes. But aside from those.. the levels just look like they belong to another franchise like Mario. And the gameplay.. is too close to Mario and just generally feels too awkward for my likings. Sonic doesn't need a run-button yet there it is.. And while Sonic with parkour is cool on paper, it could be had been way better implemented. Not to mention while it was the selling gimmick.. most levels don't even let you use it. All tho I agree with an Adventure game being a good option, as fans seems to be desperate for it.

I personally think sonic lost world was a good game it’s basically sonic team trying to make a sonic adventure game with modern sonic and classic elements like the badniks and animals in capsules I’d like to see a sequel

How tf is it like a Classic or adventure game for that matter? The only elements that remotely represents Sonic is the spindash, the appearances like badniks, green hill zone pallets, the capsules.. But that alone doesn't define a "classic Sonic game" nor adventure game for that matter. Sonic litearly climbs up a wall like Mario does in cat form in 3D world, lmao. It's a Mario game, let's face it.

+Superedstonic Is Sonic in pain whenever he jumps or rolls into an enemy? No. If he can destroy metal just fine while curled into a ball without being in pain, I don't see how he would be pain grinding on metal whist in ball form.

@@Sydney_Angelyt You don't need soap shoes but it's just easier to balance. If you didn't know, soap shoes were a real thing in the early 2000's and people used them to grind on rails without skateboards.

He lost so much depth in his animations for this game. Like, what happened to his dash ring animations? And he seems to not like using his spring animation for anything but straight up springs when Generations would use it to fill a lot more of the gaps in his aerial movement.

He actually does have these missing animations. He just isn't configured to use them. Eventually I'll probably fix them so he'll use proper animations when interacting with certain objects. The reason he isn't configured to use them in the first place is because Classic Sonic never interacts with these objects in his original stages so I guess they didn't bother since they'd never be seen in the normal game.

@@TokyoDrift456 He was ported directly from Generations andnretains the majority of his animatuons though. Even the dancing air-guitar animations that were unused in Generations. They just didn't implement them. They didn't even have to change a thing but chose to do less.

dont know why but I think Classic Sonic when he is in the middle of his drop dash before he hits the ground he looks like a very light blue piece of candy or at the very least a light blue gumball and when hes super he looks like a bright yellow piece of candy or a bright yellow gumball

This mod isn't just Classic Sonic in 3D. It improves Classic Sonic's physics and gameplay in general. I recently updated it to improve his 3D controls / physics as well. This video is showcasing that part.

I could be wrong, but does Forces have a better 3D-physics implementation than Generations does? Generations has completely different systems and abilities for 2D and 3D, but it seems like the only thing that changes in Forces is the physics values.

I don't know why everyone thinks modern and Classic are two different Sonics. Classic sonic never had light blue body and short spikes. Go back to the 16bit games clearly he is the same blue as modern and has longer spike not those little nubs. Sega has brain washed you all thinking that they are different sonics. Modern sonic is classic but with soles on his shoes, green eyes, and body shape. Modern sonic didn't always have the skinny taller body we know today, in adventure on dream cast he has the same shape as he did in the geniuses games. The design was later was changed after the adventure game his body portions have changed a lot. This body change is very noticeable in adventure 2, adventure dx, heroes, 06, zero gravity, then it stoped untill unleashed. The reason why he looks different with the green eyes and soles on his shoes is because Sega thought it would look better in 3d. You can even find adventure sonic with black eyes and no soles. So the only difference between the two is looks. Also you can tell I'm correct because once they first started doing this modern and classic thing in generations they expected you to believe classic is younger but 15 like modern at the same time also he can't talk wich also is untrue. Its not like they actually try to canonize anything so just fuck it all.

WiliestBeret520 Classic sonic has always had much shorter spines in comparison to his modern take, which was another step in making him look less like a fuzz ball in 3D. His lighter shade was exaggerated, sure, but then again classic sonic never had a definitive shade of blue throughout his entries. And the take of classic not speaking was heavily based on the animations from CD. Ironically enough, CD is also the only classic game where sonic speaks ("I'm outta here"). Say what you want, but the differences between these characters definitely separate them when they're different versions of the same person.

You two got a point or two to make. Ultimately though I think what we can all agree on is that Sega's taken on Classic Sonic in Generations and forces is far from how he was in the older games and the cartoons (if we count them too).

WiliestBeret520 What do you mean brainwashed? Everyone knows Modern Sonic is Classic Sonic. There were references to the classic games in Adventure. It's only the Mania Sonic that's from a different universe. They're not brainwashing anyone, it's just a retcon.

Yeah I've thought that for years. When I was a kid it was just Sonic. Sonic 1 and Sonic heroes were the same sonic to me, but generations fucked everything up when they split him into 2 characters. This "classic/modern" thing has ruined the franchise even further. Lost world and forces are proof of that

It's the opposite way around you can spindash in 3D in generations but not in forces because in generations there was a button to spin dash but in forces you have to pull the joy stick down and jump but now pulling it down makes you walk back so you can only dropdash in 3D

There is a crouch button in the game. It's also used for the slide if you're playing modern Sonic or the avatar character.

You know this does make you think in generations if classic had the drop dash they could have implemented complete 3d sections for him alongside modern in order to further connect the 2 different eras and to thins day i still do not understand why modern has 2d sections even though classic already covers that line of game play

Generations' physics code is really weird. Essentially a bunch of new developers were told to upgrade and reuse the Unleashed physics and graphics engine without having any prior experience developing it, with it, or for it. So the implementation is very haphazard in a lot of places. Every single ability has a completely separate version for 2D/3D, with its own physics values and behavior. This is why changing physics for one ability won't apply when you gain or lose a dimension. Because the 2D abilities always require a level direction, and won't work otherwise, if you use them in 3D you'll always only move in the forward or backward direction of the floor, and if the floor doesn't have one the game will crash. Essentially, instead of making the 2D sections an alteration of the 3D ones, the Generations devs made them basically their own separate game. So if they wanted a 3D spindash, they would have had to recode the roll ability from scratch.
