I'm not sure about your model vehicle but I know for mine, there's a simple adapter that goes from the sonata gls to the Boss head radio back panel. The RCA cable runs from my Boss head out to my subwoofer in the back seat to add just a little more low end. I've been wanting to try adding new speakers and another amp for the doors and such but the multi pin connection at the doors makes it extremely difficult to pass new wires to better speakers

@@SonicOrbStudios Thanks for responding so quick! I have the 2011 Sonata Limited without navigation. Is the adapter you talk about the metra adapter? I’ve heard some people complain about clipping with that adapter, so I’m hesitant to use it. How’s the sound quality with the adapter? (Or is it another brand adapter)

nope, using the amp in the headend unit other than the powered sub in the rear seat section. Everything is power flawless.

You'll have to run enough cable to carry all your audio channels into the trunk, then Metra 70-7305 will connect to the amp harness and give you access to the factory speaker wiring. I'm running 4x line-level connects to a 4 channel amp and connecting the front door and rear deck speakers, ignoring the rear door speaks and sub. May come back and hook a monoblock to the factory sub in the future. Anyway, even to drive the speakers straight off your new head unit you're going to have to do just as much trimwork and cabling as you would to add an aftermarket sub so might as well go big.

Do you have a link for the wiring part #. My Hyundai with navigation does work but no sound at all

there's other videos to review on KZfaq if you have that upgraded audio system with external digital amp in your sonata GLS. Mine was the non-navigation model car.

it's only included in the upgraded version, I've got a mid range GLS without navigation and audio system upgrades

I believe you can change your head unit and still use the factory amp. Simply set your head end settings to not use the built in amp.

head unit being the user interface and display unit at the dashboard center... in my case the Boss system. You won't need the expensive GPS head unit if you have a phone to plug in via USB, android auto or Apple auto will display your navigation on the new head unit

yes, had to directly ground a few wires rather than use the ground wire in the radio wiring harness, their phone support was amazing

@@R00STER92 not off the top of my head but the wiring diagram included with the product was spot on, just some additional wires needed to be grounded directly to the frame

Hey you don't even need the AWSC-1 with those joying units, you can just ground the one wire and run the other straight to KEY-1 on the HU and it works

one is not included but I'll edit the description tonight to include the one I like. It's really small and had held up great for many years now
