Back in the 50s as a kid on our rural school bus you could tell who just got on the bus by smell. Could also tell which kid had done chores that morning and whether or not those chores involved pigs or cattle. We all made scents back then.

I have watched your videos over the years and can't help but think that you could work with a city teacher somewhere to put together a video series showing what it takes to raise the cows. So many city kids have no idea what it takes.

Brian, thank-you for CCR! (In the 60's at the height of their popularity, they came to Santa Barbara for a concert, & the radio announcer said they were getting $35,000, which at the time, was an astronomical take-home!)---I'm envious of you fellas' energy level. I want to thank you for showing me what a farmer's dedication is, day-in & day-out. I'm about to retire from nursing, after 52 1/2 years. Challenging, wonderful, difficult, amazing years. Burned out by having to be on-call on my cell phone 24/7. Looking forward to gardening w/o having this albatross around my neck.

I am amazed at the amount of work you need to do on the farm. Equipment repair and maintenance seems to take up as much of your time as the care of your animals. You take wonderful care of your animals, and people who b---- about using animals for food, need to learn that the entire life cycle of birth to harvesting of the animals is performed in a humane manner. You are to be commended.

Been a very interesting "calving" video season for us the viewers I would tend to say. Y'all's dealing with the elements and then, with some not so great 1st time momma cows placed a lot of interest-generating material for the viewing public. You all sure put in a lot more work into your farm jobs, than a lot of folks may give you credit for; you sure don't get "top" pay for the excellent work you do. I just wish more folks were aware of the convenience that your end product provides for America. Kudos to you, in every aspect of the word. Peace. ✌✌✌

While the camera was on you, Cole and all the racket was going on, it sounded like Brian was wrestling that cow lol. I hope calving season has been successful for you. Sorry you guys are having some problems with the cows not taking to their calves, it's a bit of a problem, but well worth it, for sure. Hopefully you didn't have any incident while working with those angry cows, but it does happen to the best of us, me too. You have so much to keep up with, cleaning to repairing equipment to fixing fence, etc..... Your days are busy for sure. Good one Cole, enjoyed watching, have a great weekend, what's left of it.

You guys really are attentive to your calves and soon to be delivering moms. Your system of housing the new norms and trying not to let a mom deliver outside or overnight outside is the best I’ve seen from a cold environment operation here on the tube!

Me being a small cattle producer here in Oklahoma, I really enjoy the insight you guys give to the viewers. A lot of people don't know or understand the time and sacrifices that come with this lifestyle. That being said I'd sure appreciate the chance to have a calf named after me (Kyle) and the option of purchasing that calf when you have bulls for sale.

Hey Cole, dunno how often you see these comments but my grandparents are heading out to South Dakota for a sight seeing tour and to visit family. My grandfather is a huge fan and hopes to stop by and see your place if at all possible. He’s got dementia and wants to get the most out of the life he’s left. I love him dearly and hope he’ll be welcome when him and my grandmother assuredly come visit you. I appreciate it regardless as your videos help him keep his mind busy. Bless you man

Love watching and waiting for the song of the day. Calving is hard work and those mothers!!! Green River was a very favorite of my late husband's, he was a musician and the songs you bring up remind me of him. He sang and played them all. We would do name that tune with whistles, was always fun. Anyway, if you have any animal that is a little crazy and hard to handle, please name him 'Gypsy'. Thank you for all the content, I grew up on a ranch and remember the hard work and also the many rewards (not $).

Hey Cole, I was surprised that you mentioned your old man's retirement! Hopefully, you realized if Brian does retire, he'll be a difficult person to replace given how hard of a worker he is!! He's been on the farm over the years and he knows everything there is to know about the claves 😮, tractors, and acres. He's also a great mentor and leader to the rest of us. I don't know what we would do without him or his song of the day! 😊 So, are you sure he's ready to hang up his boots and enjoy his golden years? Or is this just a rumor you heard from someone else? Either way, I hope you're doing well and staying safe.

You guys should buy a trailer to hook up to one of your rangers and then you can put the calf in it if you have a calf out in the field.

Another great video. Enjoyed the close ups of calves eating something you don't see like that very often. That new calving shelter looks like a great investment also. Thanks for another great video. It was interesting and enjoyable. Busy busy time got you and dad. Calves still coming. You do a great job with your calf’s and angry mom’s as you say. Brian and you do great getting them together as calf and mom. Lots of effort on your part. More than a lot would do. Appreciate how clean you keep things for your animals. Just wonderful. Both of you are great herdsmen. My compliments to both of you. You are right about planting. Will be here before you know it. Overall your calf population is doing great. Unless I am wrong do not think you lost any which is outstanding. About all I guess for now. Thanks for everything Sonne’s. The Iowa Farm Boy.
