I just saw the 950 and the new Sony XBR8 with local dimming, both are great choices for deep black LCDs.

I really like what I have seen of local dimming LED backlights. If done right, I think this technology will be the next big step up in quality with LCDs.

Two reasons. First, if you have a home media server or network, you can plug your TV in directly to it and play back any photos, movies or songs that you have on your computer. Second, some TVs - like some of the new Sonys have an interface where you can access the Internet directly through your TV allowing you to stream content like RSS feeds. In full disclosure, all of my videos after this one are shot on green screen. It let's us control lighting and editing much better. Also, the images shown on the TV are composited in post production. I don't think this is a problem because you really shouldn't be judging an HDTV by looking at the low resolution, highly compressed video that is inherent with KZfaq. You really need to see the TV live displaying high definition content.

I can't say that there is 0 risk of burn-in on a plasmas, but the models in the last two or three years really are not prone to burn-in. Some have pixel shifting technologies that guard against the problem. Of course, I would suggest turning the TV off if you decide to pause a game or movie for an extended period of time.

To your question about Bravia-I have a 52xbr4 and it performs well with gaming and high def movies-although i recomennd u buy from a local elect store-i went through 2 52 before i had a good one(clouding problem in dark scenes)it's well worth it

I really need to get these TVs in for review before I can say anything definite. Seeing them for a few minutes on a convention floor is not a good basis for judging them. But I'm sure that you will be happy with the 950.

Make sure you turn off the Noise reduction option on the sony TV this will clear up some of the ghosting or blurring. in the games and movies you see when the pictures scrolls left or right.

If you are asking me, I must admit that I am spoiled since I am constantly watching whatever new TV that I am reviewing. And I have not had to buy an HDTV. But I will admit to watching a 37" 720p HDTV at home that looks perfectly fine for watching broadcast programs that are either 720p or 1080i. Are the 1080p TV that I see better? ,m allready 1,5 past year waiting for the bravia x serie becouse it,s seems to be the best, since it can improves colors and reduces noise ,artifactsflickering etc,, dramatically and even is able to reconstruct,deinterlace and upconvert 480i into 1080p. and yes it has a horse power of a proccesor onboard wich is able to calculate 2 trillion methamatics in just 1 second amezing!!!!!!!!!

All new Blu-ray players can up res a regular DVD to 1080p. That does not mean that it will look as good as a Blu-ray disc.

well i got a 52 inch sharp aquos in my home and its quility is as same as bravia plus its the best selling lcd in japan . so i dont see much diffrence here

Dam. I have a Panasonic Plasma and its amazing like LCD's lovers wouldnt believe. But becuase i am an avid gamer, i am considering selling my plasma and buying a Bravia. Any who owns a Bravia, please tell me the truth. Whats it like for gaming? And how bad is the lag for fast paced action scenes in movies?
