Sony Bravia XBR65x900c four red blinking lights, FIX!!

I was basically told by Sony, sorry about your luck. I purchased this TV in 2017 after my father has had his Sony Bravia for over 15 years. I had done tons of research prior to purchasing and thought I was getting a quality product from Sony, since the TV was more than $2000. It has spent the past 6 months in a spare bedroom collecting dust until I found this video. I was about to bite the bullet and buy a new TV (not a Sony). I can’t thank you enough for this easy tutorial!

Incredible to hear it worked for you! I received similar treatment from Sony. Apparently the LED fix is too laborious so they write it off. Just turn down the backlight a bit to avoid flickering. Cheers! Mine is still running several years post fix.
@robertareboucas78113 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much it really fixed my issue. The Bl_ERR pin on my tv was on the main power board so make sure to find the board that holds that pin with the diagram. Life saver video!!!
@TheDarticus4 жыл бұрын
Quickly commenting for everyone - Firstly, for those of whom this worked for, fantastic! This procedure is to circumvent an underlying issue with dislodged or burnt out LED’s at the base of the TV that’s triggering the backlight error. To complete the fix you need to remove all control boards, carefully peel off LED connections and replace the LED panel that’s faulty. This is a far more significant undertaking and the part is difficult and expensive to locate. Typically there are four sets of LED ‘strips’, I’ve only been able to find these strips on eBay but you’d need to validate the part number and proof of functionality. Otherwise if you can deal with one or two dead LED’s you’ve got your TV back. Good luck to all and I’m truly happy some are having success.

Hi! I recently started having a similar issue with my TV as well. The only difference is that mine is blinking 6 times after it shuts down automatically. Would you recommend the same solution as you mentioned in the video? Model is Sony Bravia W60B

Awesome. Will try. I posted on the Sony forum that I saw that original video on KZfaq, taken down now, and the person doing it actually added a ring to the end and ground to the screw at the left. I like this way better. Thanks

Thank you !! 2 years ago My XRB65x900c had this issue 2 days after the extended warranty expired !! Box store wanted $99 just to diagnose repair would be extra ! I boxed it up placed it in the attic (twice it almost went to the dump ). On a whim I search for a repair and found yours !!! Did exactly what you said and less than 20 min this 3k paperweight is fully functioning again !!!

I have a similar story! I’m so glad you stumbled upon this video and you’re operational. Keep your backlight brightness to around 20-25 to avoid any flickering from the dead LED’s. Cheers my friend!

Thank you for sharing! I did this yesterday and the TV is working much better (so far). Knowing the real problem is the LED strips, I'll regard this repair as an effective "band-aid", buying me time to budget for a replacement TV. Shame on SONY for producing a high-end product with a service life of only 5 years, and no replacement parts available.
@TheDarticus3 жыл бұрын
Couldn’t agree more! Glad this worked as a temp solution. If you experience flickering in the future with this bandaid reduce the backlight brightness a bit as more LED’s are destined to fail. Chalk it up to poor soldering or quality control. Glad you’re back up and running.
@wilsonblack22013 жыл бұрын
Update - In three week's time, even after setting the brightness to the minimum, the flickering, though inconsistent, degraded to the point where the TV was no longer viewable. Those three weeks did give us enough time to research/select/purchase/install a replacement TV (not SONY). Thanks again for your help.

Fixed. Same TV. 4 red lights a few days after the 3 year old threw a cars toy at it. I'd add that a crazy small flathead screwdriver helps get the wire out, then it snaps into the ground port. Also, there isn't any noticeable issues with the screen once if started working again. Seems like Sony's all or nothing approach to back lighting must sell a lot of TVs. Thanks a ton for sharing. Paul Childers Thank you, Paul! Yeah - I had tried most everything before I found someone on Reddit talking about some unrelated trouble shooting and where breakers might be located and figured the Sony engineers probably built a trip near the LED board to avoid damage due to a power spike. My TV is still going about 5 months in! Cheers and Happy Easter. God Bless...
@luckieseite4 жыл бұрын
Ya, the bypass makes perfect sense to see if it is the actual power supply or not. I think my issue is the lower LED strip. Now that it is back on it is a bit discoloration, like a red Hugh. It is not very noticeable, it only is somewhat more noticeable with white backgrounds. I'm going to not tell my wife to see if she can even notice it. Thanks again. Hope yours lasts for more than 5 months, I'm sure it will fingers crossed.

Hi Yogesh! I’ve had that BL error re-wired since Nov 2019, so we’re approaching one year without issue. I haven’t experienced any overheating or other issues associated. I’d say it’s rather safe - thinking about the wiring diagram I can’t imagine a massive failure considering the voltage is pretty low. Cheers on the fix! Enjoy your TV again! :)

On occasion, perhaps once per month for a short period I’ll see the LED panel flicker. This is normally resolved within a few minutes. Otherwise no overheating, no shut downs, and best of all, no more error codes.

Is it a solid red light or blinking?

I have a Sony x900h and I see the pin but it’s smaller than the ones on your TV so I’m wondering is there a way to push or pull them out without breaking the wire, I’m having the hard time right and the damn wire won’t come out

Had tv up stored away. Saw this vid might give it a shot. How do you change the wire. Physically pull wire by hand? Need tool? Cut? Snap back in on the 9 slot?

Apply a little force and I believe there is a small lever in the front it’ll shimmy loose. Good luck

Nice!Going to try this to an 85" 85x900h I got for free because it has the 4 blinking light issue.

I am a bit confused about how to read the pins from my servicing manual for my KD-55XE9005. It says my BL_ERR is at pin 27 on my main board, but I am not sure which way around that would be?

Very interesting information sir, i have a Sony BraviaKDL40R470B it was giving4 red blinks i replaced the TCon board which i found was wet, the tv starts up then without the 4 blinks, then quickly goes into the 4 blinks is it possible you may know what the problem could be. Thanks

I have the same 4 red blinking light issue with a Sony XBR49x900E but have no legend on any of my boards and can’t quite isolate which pin/wire to pull. Haven’t been able to find any videos addressing this model. Bought a new power board I am waiting on to see if that helps. Meantime, living room TV is disassembled on the living room floor. Anyone else? Thanks much!

How do u fix bravia 658500g tv flicker
@jessiesandoval3634 жыл бұрын
Great video. I'm certain that this is the same problem my TV is having. I have a different LED control board. Any idea where I can find the pinout of that cable for my TV, it is not labeled on the board.
@TheDarticus4 жыл бұрын
Jessie Sandoval tough to tell, they’re typically located on the board itself. Perhaps the bottom right? Or I have seen them displayed along the bottom border. Good luck! And be well!

Matthew Dart, any luck finding the pin out diagram? I am in the same boat here as well. I looks like SONY intentionally stop labeling these boards.

Hi! Thank you very much for your instructions. I did the same& But now I see shadow light going along the bottom of the screen. How can I solve this issue?
@TheDarticus4 жыл бұрын
Hey! That shadow light is the reason it was tripping the error code - the final fix is to fully replace the faulty LED strips which quite a bit more cumbersome and difficult to find the parts. I’ve decided to deal with the light bleed and a flicker once in awhile. There are a couple videos on the LED replacement. Good luck my friend!

I tried it and it works perfectly. Cut the 2nd wire and grounded to a screw on the board
@larrybush35842 жыл бұрын
This worked to correct the 4 error lights. But, now there are shadows flashing across the screen. These shadows sometimes disappear briefly, but always come back. How do I fix that? I have already adjusted backlighting and color down to reduce intensities to no avail.
