Dude, your video saved me from having to replace backlights or replace the TV entirely. Really appreciate this! Thank you so much for sharing what you discovered here.

This began happening on my kd60x690e last week. Here's what I can confirm. A few yrs ago I had a device plugged into hdmi 3 arc port and the device dropped and damaged the hdmi port. It still worked but was hit or miss. Last week I had a device plugged into that port because hdmi 1 and 2 were already in use. After I unplugged the device from the damaged port, that's when I got the 6 blinking red lights. TV was dead dead. Last night I wiggled the damaged hdmi port around....and boom....TV turned on. Related to hdmi port.

I had the same problem on KD55x8509cbu. Did the usual , factory reset ( vol - , power together) etc nothing worked. So decided to open the back , straight forward removing screws which were marked. Disconnected the connector and reconnected ( the one other videos shows to snip the cable on ???) and tested TV and it started working and it wasn't factory reset !. Thks your video inspired me to have a go.

I have had the same issue over the past couple of years. Methods I have tried in the past with varied results (sometimes they work and sometimes they don't) 1. Blow air in the back, 2. Hit the back of the TV, 3. Push the power button on the back of the TV then push and hold the up arrow on the TV remote and also press and hold the TV power button on the TV (This resets the TV). But this latest time that the TV stopped working none of these methods seemed to work for me. Then I came across this video. I bought a Multimeter and did the same thing @RepairMan did and it powered on the first try. Thanks

Following up. Just like in the video, the fix only lasted a few days for me and needed to be redone. I'm now looking at replacing the LED Backlight strips.

I've Sony 40R452A bought 8 yrs back. It was working fine for 8 yrs without any issues. Just few months back I bought Amazon fire stick. From here the problem starts as you mentioned in the earlier post. I'm getting 6 times led blink then screen goes off. Tried resetting the TV, used jumper but issue continues. Then I dismantled the TV and checked LED strips. LEDs are good and all r working fine. I could have soldered the led strip joints with a seperate wire. Can you pls help to solve this issue.

One interesting thing I noticed is that the issue only happens when I have a device (Fire Stick, Roku, etc.) connected to the HDMI port and I leave it connected and powered on after I turn off the TV. After a couple of hours of the TV being off and then trying to start it will trigger the issue. Since I noticed that, I have been disconnecting the Fire Stick and the issue hasn't appeared anymore. Now it only happens when I forget to disconnect the Fire Stick every time I turn off the TV. So this issue seems like some glitch in SONY TVs where you can't leave a powered on streaming device connected to the HDMI port for a long period while the TV is off. I am leaning more towards a main board glitch than a power supply board issue.

H there. I have the same issue and you are right, for me, the issue started after I fixed a Google TV device with it. I'm thinking that the issue may be with the schottky diode in the boost converter as I was able to fix a previous Sony by replacing it. Perhaps I need to try the fix.

Thanks brother, I have the same TV and same issue. Your fix worked for me. Appreciate your effort for this! And are you able to find a permanent fix for this issue??

Oops I thought i had resolved the problem but when I turned on the TalkTalk Youview Box the LED started flashing red 6 time even after disconnecting everything. Ill take the back cover off and clear the error by removing the connector and then reconnect.

I also have the same issue. When I use the LED backlight tester the voltage is about 136 volts and then the tv starts working and the led voltage goes to 160 volts. If you look on the PCB just below the LED connector in says the VLED voltage is 155 volts. You can also see it in your video. I am testing the TV with nothing connected to it other than the plug and tester.
@repairman78653 жыл бұрын
Yes, I noticed the voltage going from 136 to 160 as well. I am curious why the TV is working perfectly fine for many hours after getting the boost from the led tester at startup. If some of the led strips are bad shouldn't at least part of the screen look darker?
@Pearlcane3 жыл бұрын
@@repairman7865 With respect to seeing dark areas on the TV screen, I cannot see any darker areas at all powering the LEDs with a tester and also just viewing them when the TV is powering them.

It worked for me as well. But did you get a chance to identify what actually caused this issue. And how did you fix the issue? Or are you still using the temporary solution.

I have the same problem. On my TV I measure the the LED voltage at turn on, it is good but the LEDs do not light. This means it is the LEDs. I can hit the TV while in the turn on process and the LEDs start working. I think it's probably a bad solder joint on one of the LEDs. Your LED tester may hit it with a higher than normal voltage and that could jump the oxides of a bad solder joint, so it may not be the power supply, but a bad LED strip. Use a volt meter and measure the LED voltage as it starts up, if the voltage is there but the LEDs do not light then you have a bad LED or solder joint somewhere. Great TV when it works! Good luck and please let me know what you find. I may just replace my LED strips instead of trying to find the bad solder joint, I only want to tear it down once.
@repairman78653 жыл бұрын
I measured the LED voltage at start up and it's starting at 190 volts then going down gradually. When the red light starts blinking it's at about 90 volts.

@BATMEX442 жыл бұрын
One or more of the LEDs is weak or failing and power supply backlight controller needs to shutdown your tv for safety reasons.
@ZerchoSQL3 жыл бұрын
Hey bro, thanks a lot, it worked to me, can you explain me why?
@repairman78653 жыл бұрын
I think the led strips inside the screen are probably not working 100% although not totally failing. So when the TV's check at startup discovers that something is not working correctly it doesn't start the TV and it starts displaying the red light error.
