@Mina76let Digital zoom is not so usable, Optical zoom is great, my handycam has 16x optical zoom and 160x digital zoom to make better sales maybe.

Hello, thanks for watching and commenting. Yes, if you watch the part in my video at 06:55, I talk about the XR format. My understanding is that with each upgrade to the format, Video 8, Video 8 XR, Hi 8, there is a slight improvement to the resolution. Obviously, you need to use a camera which is capable of recording in that resolution. Sony provided tapes for various formats to ensure you were getting the best. There is a slight bump, bits it’s negligible. Sometimes, certain video cameras wouldn’t play back tapes recorded on other cameras. A good example of this is when you play a video 8 or a hi 8 cassette on a digital 8 camera. Some work, but others don’t. I very recently played a video 8 cassette on a digital 8 camera and there seemed to be nothing on it. However, when I popped it in a hi 8 camera, there was footage. I think certain digital 8 camera could playback all cassettes but not every one. I have never visited Madrid. I think I need to. 😀

@@ReelFilm2016 thank you soooo much for all the information!! I want to buy a used camera to reproduce a few 8mm and hi 8mm old tapes shot with a sony hi8 . I have the option of getting a 8xr or a digital 8.. still not sure what to do. You should visit here , you would like Madrid.. :)

@@lasrecetasdemama9957 If I understand you correctly, are you wanting to get old recordings off of those tapes. If so, I think a Hi 8 camera would be the best option for playback functionality. As mentioned, not all digital 8 camera play back hi 8 and video 8 One day I will come to Madrid

@ReelFilm2016 hey just one question I'm sorry to take ur time but Do i need a headset or some sort of stuff to capture sounds? Bc mine doesn't capture sounds What video thingy did u use to transfer?, the video transfer card or so and do i need it? Or can i just quickly and directly transfer to my phone?

@@abgelegenja2254 If your camera isn't capturing sound, there has to be a fault with your mic. As far as I understand, you can't deactivate the mic in the settings, but it might be worth checking. With regards to capturing, please watch the videos which I linked to you and make a decision after. It's really important that you understand the process. You can't simply transfer to your phone. @@abgelegenja2254 That’s something I won’t be able to help you with sadly. I am not blessed with that skill set. However, I think you have an external mic port which you can connect a microphone up to. Have you had a look? It should be at the front of the camera, just to the left hand side. Let me know.

@@ReelFilm2016 i have a lot of sony sports case, but for old video8 camcorder. I have the TRV 411E, and I research if sony have made a sport case for this line of handycam.

Hello, well I think it is always best to use the correct tape in the camcorder to maintain quality, but to answer your question, I have just popped a Hi8 tape into the camcorder from my review and it both records and plays back the recording. I don’t know if this is the same for every camera, so you would have to test if yourself or ask the owner. Hope that helps.
