Oh really!! They look so cool. Where did you get yours from? Which model? How much did you pay for it? I was tempted to get one, but as I mentioned, I wasn't sure I would use it.

@@ReelFilm2016 I got the white one, the VRD-MC5. Cost £15 so a bit of a no brainer. Can record straight from DV which is cool as I lost that ability when I got rid of my last DVD recorder.

Hello, Well the charger connector is very specific, and I believe they can be found on these AC Power Adaptors. AC - L25A or AC-L200. I think the latter is the charger you get with it. The model no. doesn’t seem to be listed in the manual. Before you commit to buying one or a third party replacement, find someone on eBay that is selling the camera and ask them for the model. No of the charger. I no longer have my camera, otherwise I could have been 100% certain, but I am still 99% sure both will work

Thanks for watching and commenting. Oh really!! You can generally pick them up in the UK for a fair price.What are they going for in LA? Maybe all the Hollywood wannabes picked them up to be cool and retro!! In my opinion, I prefer the DVD Hybrid camera which I reviewed. It came out in the same year as this one. Nice little unit though to me the early hard drive units gave far worse picture then mini dv tape. I only ever owned one hard drive unit and it was an actual HD Canon HG10 as I recall. Was lovely picture but file formats were so unsupported back then.

I agree. The picture quality seemed quite washed out, even when compared to some of my Hi 8 footage. I never owned one of these but wanted to review it. My gut tells me that the DVD unit, which I briefly talk about in the video gave better quality, even when recording to a memory card.

Possibly….but I have never tried myself. Maybe grab one, have and experiment and let us know. 😀

@@ReelFilm2016so how does it tie into the hard drive? I’m guessing it’s saved to the drive and you have to copy it to the stick? Or do you chose which? Those pictures have a really beautiful vintage distortion but they look way worse than smaller cameras of the time.

@@Journey_to_who_knows So, you choose which media you want to use from the menu system. Either hard drive or memory card. It’s super handy to be able to record to a memory card. 😀

@@julietalastra7763 I’m not absolutely sure, but I think there is also a Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo adapter on the market which might allow you to use standard memory cards by way of the adapter. I still prefer using the Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo, but it might be worth a look. Let me know how you get on. 😀

Ooh I had one of these with the HDD built in abd it had some kind of low light IR mode on it like a night vision type deal? I paid £20 for it, sold it to some 'paranormal investigator' for £60 he wanted it for it's night vision IR mode?😁⚠️ I often wonder if he captured any ghosts? 😳
