I will go over several ways to improve your audio whether you are using the onboard camera microphone or an external microphone. Because there is not a way to adjust the microphone levels, I found an amazing cord that will allow to adjust the microphone level. I also go over microphone covers, and how to remove background noise with Audacity.

I love the quality of the Sony cameras. So much so I have 3 of them. My solution to the mic levels was to use a sokani "tiny" UHF radio mic as the output levels can be adjusted. I now have an additional lavaliere mic but also need a level adjuster . I am going to order an inline volume control to try. It did not occur to use a zoom H1, which I just happen to have. Having said that everything is mounted on my hat as I need hands free when filming. You are doing a great job on your channel. Appreciate your tips. all the best from the land down under Allen

How do I use the live feature on this camera mate any info I really appreciate it, I'm trying to use it for streaming on KZfaq or Facebook but I can't get it connected thanks

That looks like a great camera. I’m looking to upgrade for my channel towards the end of the year but have a laundry list - tilt screen that you can see when shooting, easy to use, inputs for audio, great battery life, ability to livestream to KZfaq and under 1K. Also I want an excellent microphone to go with it. Any suggestions ?

I do love my Sony fdr x3000 (the live view remote is great checking that you are in frame) for vlogging (hand held stuff) weight is an issue for me. I love my canon sl2 but use it mostly for sitting on a tripod...carrying for a long time get old, but I flipping love it! I’m holding out for the g7x Mark iii. I’m thinking it will be released in sept. It’s a point and shoot. Hi, thanks for the vid. Hope you don't me asking a few questions. First of all, I should explain my primary use for buying my x3000: to make motorcycle riding videos. I had tried a few different models of action cam from a few makers, but chose the sony for its image stabilization and image quality, which it does well. But omg the sound quality while moving is horrendous. Any wind results in horrible wind blasts sounds. That's a BIG problem on a speeding motorcycle. This problem surprised me though because even a dated old-model gopro had much better audio results. So my questions are these: Does that mini dead-cat windscreen work in high wind conditions? If not so well, do you have any other recommendations for decreasing wind noise for this cam? And this is a stupid question I'm pretty sure, but the Inline volume control device only works for external mics right? It can't be used to control the mic levels of the internal mic? Oh and did you have to modify the Micover windscreen to fit correctly over the sony mics?

greggusan in that situation I would use a lav mic with the audio leveler cord, but you may want to consider using separate audio and syncing after. At this point I find the best audio I get is when I use my tascam dL 10 with a sennheiser lav. All my camera preamps suck...so I’m going a different direction now for audio. With your high speeds you will need to cover the mic with a dead cat even if it’s with a lav.

Second video I checked out on this topic and once again the audio adjustment 3.5 mic option is "currently unavailable" on AMZN. This is a bummer as it's really all I need. That aside I liked the video so thumbs up....

There's an option to flip it in the camera settings. Easy to find.

What mic did you get? Does it have an option to turn down the mic? To be frank...I’m not thrilled with rode.

@MrSketchys How is that mic working out for you? I am trying to find out how to improve my x3000's audio. I (try to) make motorcycle videos, and find the wind buffeting terrible. How is the general sound quality of the mic, and how is it in the wind? Thanks.

A little birdie tells me that a 3.5mm attenuator -25db cable between the Sony and the mic does the trick too.

not sure if you are aware but if using the sony fdr putting the camera in airplane mode with bluetooth off will help eliminate the frequency hiss

If you turn on the airplane mode, how do you connect the camera to the screen? I recorded a video and intended to make a blog but all I heard was just a noise 😭
