I have both.The ICD 470 have a little bit clearer sound .The recorder works like a charm. The sound quality is very clear! I can't say enough nice things about this small recorder. It is easy to use. It gives very clear crisp recordings and picks up sounds in its neighbourhood easily. More than happy with the quality.

Jun 2020, i just got PX-470, what attracts me, in fact, is speakerphone on front, microphone position on the side so i can keep it in pocket and not worry mic be covered, and the most important batteries and what that mean thy are replaceable and cheep but all the problems with digital devices an phones come from rechargeable batteries that eventually burn the hardware.

Definitely PX-470, speaker on the front like radio, mix on the side line for access when keeping in pocket and batteries that can be trashed saving internal hardware of constant circuit.

I've never owned a smartphone capable of producing the quality sound of digital voice recorders .Especially the high DVR models that sell for over $100 👍 The Sony px470 is a great value .I own one

PX-470 in line with Sony Walkman tape and CD player, all features there a mic, batteries and a speakerphone! Bravo Sony! (PX-560 more like digital memory card, no personality, no fun..)

Frankly, I would go for the 560 were it not for the lithium ion battery. I prefer the removable AAA batteries of the 470 for it's practicality; I have a lot of rechargeable high capacity NiMh, swapping them out is a matter of seconds rather than the 3 minutes for a quick charge. And all lithium ion batteries are only good for a few hundred charges, after which the built in battery, and by extension the entire unit, becomes disposable. The fact that they both record mp3's and PCM onto a micro-SD is great, since it solves the issue I have with the Panasonic voice recorder I have, where you need proprietary software to download the audio files from the device, and if you no longer have the software disk, you're SOL, so this is a move in the right direction. Either way, I'll probably be picking up the 470 in the near future.

I will use my recorder to motorcycle camping Vlogging. I will use an in helmet mic with it. The longer battery life and ability to change the battery when I am camping is a big plus for me. 4gb internal storage is more than enough for my needs. At home, I can use rechargable batteries.

I rarely use this recorder maybe once or twice a year so I believe carrying the battery might be better compared to a built-in battery in ux560. what is your suggestion and how good is the noise reduction in the comparison of these 2 models?

If you had say 100 files recorded on these how can you go back and find the one you want without using a computer?? Files are only dated and number? You would need to have a journal with name of podcast, date etc right? Thanks

Can someone help? I purchased this recorder and tried two different lavs. The 3.5mm TS jack worked. However, my preferred lav is a 3.5mm TRRS. It doesn't work. It was suggested to not push it in all of the way. That failed to work. I have searched for an adapter and/or cable on Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart and just Googled it. Still, no luck. The lav that does work came with a wireless set, so using it with this recorder limits me. Will a TRS mike work? Suggestions?

The PX470 has no backlight. You can't use it in dimly lit rooms.

Your audio is real low, especially from the 470, you should up the volume in the video editor, ah, the giant squid, that made it more normal!!!!

I will resume: The pop out usb system it is a Shit !!, and the UX 560´s built in battery NO reemplazable tooo... The PX 470 it is better and could record very very well and it could be a gadget for all your life (except for the pop out usb) but the PX 470 in generals terms is better than the ux 560. I had the ux 533 too, i have already sold it out. IMO the PX 470 is better.
