Three weeks in with the Xperia 5 IV and a number of issues are starting to affect my usage. So here are my thoughts on this in the middle of February 2023.

This is great info. Holding onto 60Hz and aggressive ram management. I hope Sony does sort it out. I know you have Livestream with Xperia's in the past. I would be curious to know if someone would notice any issues when using it as an accessory to a mirrorless camera. Thanks for the video Dan.

When it comes to the actual tasks at hand be that gaming or recording video etc it doesn't skip a beat. And there's been no issue with the video out to the capture card. Not sure how it would be affected as a monitor for a camera as you mentioned but then I'd still recommend the 1 IV for the 4k display. Once I get a camera I can test that stuff but so far there's no indication it's anything major.

Interestingly I have 120hz all the time on my xperia 5 III, drops to 60 only after battery goes bellow 5%. And don't worry about support because my xperia XZ1 compact is still getting software updates and works perfectly fine after 6 years :)

Thank you very much for creating this content. There is no KZfaqr commenting on anything "current" about this wonderful phone. The drop to 60fps of the screen I have also suffered several times.. but the problem of the constant closing of applications in the background has been greatly improved by disabling the "smart battery" option in the system settings. Now the applications stay open normally. By the way We got a major 240MB update yesterday, and the phone seems to be running more streamlined now, though it's too early to tell for sure. Regarding the sensitivity of the screen... I definitely had to remove the tested protective glasses. I use only one of thin flexible plastic. Greetings from Spain!

You're very welcome. Adaptive battery is something I've turned off already and it doesn't seem to have helped. I'll keep an eye out for the update though. It hasn't popped for me as yet. I'm glad I'm not the only one noticing the issue with the screen. I genuinely love the phone and they fixed basically all of the things I wanted fixing from previous models. Just a shame there's different issues now. I'll have more Xperia content so keep an eye out 👍🏻

@@GroundedTech I also had the 5 II, and really if it weren't for the spectacular maximum brightness of the screen, and powerful sound of the IV, I would say that the II performed clearly better.. even in photography I think that the processing to "Jpg" was smoother and true to reality At least this Mark IV has solved the heating and coverage problems of the Mark III! We look forward to more videos from your channel!

I wonder if you can reproduce the 60 Hz scaling down from 120 Hz with a scenario. I really like to test this as I did not have this at all. Just saw once or twice it going down and stuttering after I wake it up after letting it rest for 1 or 2 days on a shelf. That seems to be some deep standby thing though. Otherwise whenever the battery saving mode kicks in it goes down in framerate
@GroundedTech
@GroundedTech Жыл бұрын
Yeah it would happen in general use. I turned off adaptive battery and it seemed to be better. Since the update this morning it hasn't happened once. I can tell it drops to 60 when I'm watching a KZfaq video but otherwise it's fine now.

Hello! I have this phone too! Some things can or must always be done when upgrading to a new Android version (13). Performing a software repair through Windows so Android 13 is completely clean installed! (No android 12 leftovers) You can easily manage per app the battery usage settings under the info button on the icon. Set it to "unlimited". ( If translated well because I have the Dutch menu ) This way Sony's aggressive energy management won't interfere. "Google Photos" seem te be very heavy on system resources and I think this is the main problem of this phone. Forcing it to stop helps allot with the smoothness! And if you don't need 5G you can switch to 4G. This can help too. This phone isn't overheating it protects your hands! The sony gp-vpt2bt gimbal unlocks it full potential when recording with the official Sony camera apps because you can activate "endurance mode"!! I hope Sony will release a firmware update with a manual option to turn it on.. Even in safe mode it is possible to use the camera apps. I just share my experience here.

@@GroundedTech i got 64.1.A.0.869 release-keys update and February security patches a week ago or so with no changes. Previously released December security patch in January did help with media apps somewhat. But still after the phone has been open for like 15 to 24h apps like Wear os no longer stay open at all and that means that my Ticwatch pro 3 ultra no longer stays connected. Restarting or even factory reseting the watch doesn't help at all, only restarting the phone makes the watch work for that hidden time period until Wear OS app is added to the "shoot to kill" list again and then the watch starts to lose Bluetooth connection again.

Hey man - great content. I've been using this phone as daily driver for about a month now and it's a strange love affair. For ram management go to developer options > suspend execution for cached apps> disabled Sorted it out nicely for me. I haven't noticed my hertz dropping to 60 unless I'm in split screen watching KZfaq and browsing underneath. Will keep my eyes open for it. The fingerprint sensor for me is too finicky with moisture for my liking. Also as nice as the slim screen is it does end up being a bit bloody small when watching KZfaq etc... I do love this thing though, amazing quality and feel.

Hi buddy, I`ve noticed recently that on mine the finger print sensor takes a couple of attempts at times to open the screen (i`ve registered my 2 opening digits at least twice each), also twice now I`ve had it where my screen wont turn on / or the phone is off and wont open up until i plug the charger cable in (even though the battery has been at 78 & 98% respectively). Have you encountered either of these issues??? Sadly for such an expensive contract with the phone i`m tempted to trade it in.
