Sony Xperia 5 IV Software Issues Update - March 2023

Жыл бұрынA month after my video talking through the issues I had been having with the Sony Xperia 5 IV and the software update I thought had fixed everything there were other issues that developed shortly afterwards. So here is my update on this in March 2023.

Hello mate! Congrats first of all!! Since we last spoke on your previous video, I too had further issues with factory reset, text messages wouldn't come through the first time AT ALL, then another it was playing up with apps... THIRD TIME LUCKY seems to be okay. It's on its second strike for me with the price of contract so it's been warned 😂 tha KS for the update buddy

@@GroundedTech ah mate haha. I'm on the 'O2 switch up' bolt on on my contract so I can literally upgrade when I want without paying off the contracts etc, but really wanted to love this phone and keep it for a while. Purely on size, battery and quality. But yes it's certainly testing us right now.

I WAS on it...🙃 O2 staff messed up and didn't keep me on it when I got the 5 IV. They can't fix it in store. They may do nothing. Not happy lol

During first weeks after I bought my Xperia 5 IV, I've had some problem with audio (randomly stopped working). I noticed I've imported old apps from my previous Xperia that were no more supported with the newer Android version on 5 IV. As soon I've deleted all of them, everything went right. That's why I wasn't having all your problems like the overheating or random restart or app crashing. Also let me remind you that even a crappy (or faulty) SD card could cause instability. Anyway, I'm so glad you're not able to enjoy your device 🤜🏼🤛🏼

I haven't noticed the rebooting, but I noticed that sometimes in manual exposure mode on the camera app, if I try to adjust the hdr settings the app crashes. Also, the refresh rate randomly dropping happens once or twice a day - I can fix it by turning on and off the battery saver though. RAM management is also as you said, not the best, but with how quickly the apps I use open, it's not an issue for me personally. I hope these can all be resolved in the next update, since otherwise it's a brilliant phone!

Yeah. Resetting the phone and starting from scratch has basically fixed everything now but ram management is still a slight issue. Thanks for more feedback Beccasn

On my previous phone (A53) I threw it hard one time and it survived! Not really, after that moment it seemed fine but later on it started restarting on its own, each day getting more frequent until it didn't turn on anymore. My mom told me the components inside the phone were damaged and couldn't be fixed

Does anyone else have an issue with the compass not calibrating? No matter how many efforts, resets etc. I’ve found quite a few people (reading online) have had the same issue? It didn’t seem to affect the 1iv when I had that?

Not that I know of with mine. All seems fine. Unusual for something like that to be more widespread.

The reason why im still on android 12 on this phone, i worry it will affect my LED Blinker app, if anyone has this phone and the LED Blinker Pro app and on the latest android 13 update, let me know if it still works

Hello all, has anyone had an issue with not being able to visit virtually any websites or run any apps while operating on cellular(there are select apps that work i.e maps/KZfaq and all work fine on Wi-Fi) I also have an issue with using the modern voicemail and have to dial *86 and listen to every saved voicemail(very frustrating). I've had the phone for over a year now and it's basically been a worthless pile to me, I live in US and have Verizon network, any help is appreciated

@JaysonDavis-lo7ky it's the only Xperia I have had issues with. I had the 1 V for a few months and it was almost perfect. I'll be getting the 5 V this week so we'll see if they've sorted things out.

After the new installation update, absolutely nothing is better. Closing apps is still not fluid, they still block for a moment.

Does anybody else get a slight buzzing sound everytime anyone speaks to you when talking on the phone? it is extremely annoying

I have Sony 5 IV. The software issues are glaring. I don't think I can buy or recommend a Sony phone after this. RAM management is still trash, trust me. The phone is picky about what Bluetooth it wants to connect to, I can go on..

It's honestly not great. However I never had those issues on the 1 ii, 5 ii, 5 iii or 1 IV. They're normally super performant. Sucks you've had such a bad experience.

@@GroundedTech I got my mom the Xperia 5 III a couple months before I bought my IV and honestly she hates it. 😂😂 She won't admit because I bought it for her for her birthday but I overheard her talking to a friend say "nothing but problems" when mentioning the phone. Her phone is worse than mine because it freezes and she has to restart it all the time. It's really quite insane. Coming from a Samsung Galaxy S8, that phone was damn near flawless for what it was, these issues are unfathomable.

That's some extremely poor luck I'm ngl. It's similar for me with Samsung's in the past. Had numerous issues.

Had an S6 that took 5 months to be fixed (was a faulty battery). Had lots of issues with the S10+ too in general.
