Is there a recording limit on 4K 60fps? I’ve watched most of the reviews and no one mentioned about it. Nothing on the specs too. Can you verify it?

James, the Sony Xperia Pro-I is a sicc piece of hardware and I do agree with you about it's drawbacks which is the main reason why I won't be getting it. Well, that and the $1800.00 price tag! Not everyone is balling out of control, living the BOSCH Life like you are.. I'm a frugal individual and I'm not ashamed to say that; that being said, the Red Hydrogen One smartphone has just what is missing from the Sony Xperia Pro-I and since it is now a discontinued item you can get one for around $150.00.

It's a close shootout between the OnePlus 9 pro and Xperia pro I quality of shots wise on the photography side .. phones have came so far quickly

Most of the reviews missed the best feature of this phone. It has a BIONZ X image processor inside which is same image processor could be found on a7S II.

This phone is really made for the pros. Those normal phone reviewers would talk smack about this cause Sony didn't really put much AI stuff in the camera's auto mode.

And the sheep share posts like yours. There's nothing "for the pros" about this. Except a couple modes and an insanely high price tag. And if it matches the pro and 1iii it is in fact behind the competition in numerous aspects in battery, speakers, display, availability, etc. The only difference is finally possibly a comparable camera that's still held back by being on a Sony. And I don't mean because of sharpening....

I have to say the imagery I've seen out of the Xperia Pro-I is the best of any smartphone footage I've seen. Amazing imagery. I would like to see a feature or short film shot with it.

Still, Sony need to market this out, even though Sony's targets are just for professionals, they still need to let people know that this is the photo with a real camera and not artificial camera.

Right location, right time of day, even right hair, ...and put it together with slo-mo, You Sir Nailed that one right on. Brilliant show-case of an eye-watering product! (as usual) The problem I have is that there are sooo many amazing products being released, I don't know which way to go. They are all better than my humble (and terrible d800). DJI 4D, Sony A7Siii and A7Siiii, all amazing tech, Now even a new phone produces excellent results... I need to upgrade (at least) , and start creating, so which way to go?

James, you probably saved this Sony device.. Really outstanding footage and color grading.. Seeing previous reviews, b-rolls etc the device seemed not to perform good. Sure, it's quality is a phone after all (ant cropped 1" sensor to 60% of real area), but seemed worse than Iphone 13PM or Mi 11 Ultra, but seeing this now seems this rig is not bad at all. Very depends by the hands and mind that is controlling it. You did damn well! PS. Subscribed, seems there is tons of good content here!

All depends on user. Most user’s are not a pro photographer like him. So their review or images come out dull. He really saved this phone. Looks amazing. I love it and possibly want upgrade from my 1 iii.

Fully agree... I think most reviewers are only able to use auto mode, also they tested an early version, maybe there were some changes software wise. When you think about it, its just sad how these influcers can kill a great product, because they have no idea what they are doing. I saw a video from a french guy (Pierre T Lambert - check his vid) making pics in USA with this thing. It's so incredible good when you think a bit and adjust the modes / options properly. It's insane 😍

2 years have passed and still being priced out by the Xperia lineup, I keep coming back to this vid to listen to the killer tune at the beginning. Such as an emotional track to listen to before hitting the gym! Soundhound doesn't recognise it, otherwise it'll be on my playlist on Spotify straightaway.

Amazing footage as always. I have a an A7III, ZV-1 and iPhone 13 Pro but still finding myself using the ZV-1 90% of the time as good as the iPhone 13 Pro shoots (especially in ProRes). Simply because of the unbeatable combination of form factor + manual control dials on the ZV-1. Shooting with phones via apps and touchscreen is just too finicky and time consuming, robs the joy for me at least of shooting on the fly. Still an incredible glimpse into the future, and if this were able to record in via HDMI as a monitor making it a ZV-1 and Atomos Ninja V wrapped into one it absolutely justifies the hefty price tag. I'll take two!

The image is great, the colors are great, the shadow details, the dynamic range, just...WOW! Me: Dude, I was just playing with you. It's a Sony phone! My friend: Yeah, well, it ain't that big of a deal... My [Galaxy/iPhone] can do the same and probably better, and at a cheaper price...

@@Danielbode14True. However, it all comes down to implementation, like in DACs. Just because your DAC has an AKM chip doesn't necessarily make it a great product, the whole circuitry counts as well...

That's a great question. I bought the ZV-1, mainly for its stealth. My Sony A9 and Sony A7Rlll get too much attention when I just want to be a regular Joe and maybe go to a small venue and take some photos just for pleasure.

We often take pics with our phone, so this is welcome news. However, I would luv it more if sony or any other manufacturers can produce a 1" sensor camera in a rollable or foldable phone so we can consume and produce media content.

Yes definitely I'm interested to buy Xperia phones over point of shoot camera No squabble... Addition of Picture profile so important, hopefully SONY adds this on either in Xperia 1 iv or Xperia i2. One inch sensor, SD card & Mic Jack will win it for SONY surely.

I read in another article that the depth of lens on mobile is less making it crop sensor... effectively making it not a 1 inch or so sensor

Wow thats nuts. Didnt expect that footage coming from a phone, the stats are nuts and the footage really looks damn impressive coming out of a phone.. Well done Sony. And great review James. Edit: Still damn impressed but lord the price. 1.6k? A tad wild. Still, nuts performance meaning it will go down in price over time

Great video. Would you still recommend this phone in 2023? If for a quick shot, how is the basic camera without going into the manual mode?

The software from sony alpha is on point... but I would rather see an horizontal larger bump camera that actually used the whole sensor in a 20mm lens... 20mp photos and proper downscaled 4K ... or even better a true 12mp 1" sensor that would be sick! And we will see it eventually ...

its bloody awesome, but that shallow depth of field is comparable to the kit lenses of cheap cameras.... If the next version manages to have a less busy background rendering it would be quite amazing

Pro-1: everything is super dope except 8 bit color. We can wait next year! and still love my Note 10+ with filmic Pro

Pretty wild! I’m an Apple iPhone user & photographer, but I hope that Apple follows Sony’s lead & puts a 1 inch sensor in the next iPhone Pro. That’d be sweet. As cool as night mode & cinema mode are, computational photography is no substitute for a larger sensor that lets in more light & creates natural bokeh. Competition is good & if Sony pushes Apple to add a 1” sensor, I’m all for it. 👍🏼
