Nice video! I enjoyed the content and I loved your presentation. I subbed. Quick question, I see you recommend BM's Davinci on editing, would you recommend that over Final Cut or Premier P for someone who's completely new but serious in getting started?
@VicBarry
@VicBarry 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Jon, thanks. To be honest, all 3 are great. Final Cut is optimized incredibly well on Macs, Resolve is fantastic (even the free version is top notch) and Premiere is what I use on a daily basis. While Premiere is subscription based, for me at least, it gives the most flexibility working with the likes of After Effects etc. What I'd suggest is trial each one and see what you like best. For the most part, nobody should really be able to say "Oh...that was edited in Resolve" etc. unless you're using a software specific feature like a transition, and to be honest, in my book anyway, you shouldn't be using cheesy transitions. Hope this helps

I just set my ZV1 to create "proxies" and have been having success just using the proxy files straight out of camera in Premiere Pro CC 2020. It's really slick and will save you the time of rendering the proxy files. Yeah, it takes up a little more SD card space, but so far I have not run out of space shooting my vlog. Thanks so much for the ZV1 videos. Great stuff!
@VicBarry
@VicBarry 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Mike, thanks for dropping by dude. I haven’t tried that yet but wondering what’s the workflow like in premiere if you’re letting the camera create the proxies? On another note have you been using the ZV-1 for some of those tasty looking videos on your channel?
@mikemccurdy
@mikemccurdy 3 жыл бұрын
Vic Barry The workflow is not bad at all. I put them in a folder called proxies near the actual video files and you can link them by a few commands in premier. Not too shabby. Yes have a several Sony cameras including an A7Riv but like the size of the ZV1 to be honest! I use the ZV1 for all my remote work or travel vlogs and use the A7riv in studio. Truly loving the ZV1. Haha yep all the tasty tips videos are done on the ZV1. 😃

Thanks for the reply Mike. I must give it a shot, although for me, I prefer the option to be able to create a pro-res proxy which is incredibly smooth to work with, but if it saves some time, then I'll take a look at this as an option, as I absolutely hate creating proxies :(

Great tips Vic. I used to use Filmora which is great but at times it did stutter and seemed to take too long to create proxies. Now I use a fairly high specced Android tablet with Kinesmaster and It's brilliant. I use a USB C adapter to copy the files across and it's super smooth with no need for proxies. Also exports very quickly. Obviously it's not as comprehensive as a PC or Mac programme but it's a good option.

Thanks Mark :) Ultimately, nobody knows or cares what anything is edited on. If whatever software someone is using works for what they're creating, then that's all the matters. As long as the software enables people to tell the story they want to tell in an efficient way, then happy days. I've done a few bits of editing on the iPad Pro and, Premiere Rush works "OK" and Lumafusion works flawlessly. But, I struggle to edit on a tablet to be honest, but maybe that's because I'm just permanently attached to a desktop :)

Hello!! I've just bought a ZV1 and of course your channel is a must!!! Thanks for a lot, believe me. I'd like to go back a bit to your "power" videos. I practically run my ZV1 all day!! and I mean all day...just a stop for lunch and walking my dog. I have the camera connected by a camlink....I then tell the ZV1 I'm going to stream and it asks me to plug in the USB...which I do and then cancel the streaming option. The power through USB is turned on obviously. I have a gaming laptop and the power this gives out might be why I can practically run it all day, no over heating or anything (USB cannot be plugged in until promted). I teach and use OBS together with one or other platforms but I doubt this has anything to do with it,,,,,,anyway,,,thought I'd share this with you.

And not having a hole to look through is at times challenging..but...I feel almost like they day I got my first bmx...a little bruised and battered but learning quick...and my gratitude for being big part of my successes...thanks...or as you'd say...tanks mate!!
