I find it highly shocking that this book is banned from some schools, Hair Love is so sweet and so wonderful in it’s messaging of a father taking care of his daughter.

It is so cool to finally see the mother be darker than the father. The mother is usually always lighter so this is so beautiful. I love this short so much.

I think no matter a person's skin tone or cultural background, ALL FATHERS are terrified to do their daughter's hair. This video has layers of sweetness and emotion, but to see the dad trying (and struggling!) but getting there in the end is brilliant. And the fact that he is continuing to do her hair during the credits and wasnt just a 'stand-in' while his wife was sick is a gorgeous detail. This film totally deserved it's Oscar 💖

I’m not even gonna lie. I’ve been feeling pretty cynical lately due to the amount of disrespect, disregard and mistreatment I feel BW get. More so darker skinned black women. This however, has put a smile and tears on my face. This is truly a healing video and we need more of this !

Such a lovely story. I really thought baby girl’s mommy passed, thankfully she’s a survivor. Baby girl has soooo much love reminds me of how my little one feels so safe and loved at home ❤

This story is beautiful and really hits deep and is special to me. 8 years ago I lost my grandmother who basically raised me growing up to cancer. She was the only other person besides my mother growing up who knew how to manage my unruly curls. I still cry every time I watch this. ❤

God I helped kickstart this years ago and forgot all about it. Everything about this is so beautiful, the background paintings, the animation, it made me cry. Incredible work.

I totally loved the animation, it took me back to childhood times. In my opinion, this kind of animation is nowadays very rare. I appreciate that it still hasn´t disappeared from cinematography. The story was emotional. The way Zuri gave Angela a picture of her without hair was so lovely and touching. It shows no matter, how she looks, her daughter will always love her. I really enjoyed this short animated film.

My 7yr old daughter show me this yesterday...I had an accident and spend 5 months in the hospital without being able to see her..was fight back tears all the time because it brings back so many memories.

Why does this get to me every single time 😭 it's such a simple short story but it's unbelievably sweet, wholesome, and so full of heart. And the soundtrack is also very good, it compliments the story well

I heard they’re releasing a show for this which I’ve never seen so I checked it out while my car was in the shop. This literally had me tearing up in the waiting room😭 How have I not seen this?? The animation is so fluid and the emotions are absolutely gorgeous

Everything about this touched my heart! Firstly the little girl looks sooo much like my own daughter, is around the same age too. We watched it together. The way the dad is struggling doing laundry and then has to tackle a hair routine he isn't used to, also relatable for me as I had to learn afro hair in order to do my daughter's and that's been an amazing thing for us both but I definitely felt like I was in that ring with her hair at times! Especially when I'm exhausted or in pain. I suffer from chronic illnesses and many health issues so even the mother and daughter part made me want to cry! Sometimes I am hospitalised and away from my family for tough periods of time or can't be what they need me to be. I just loved all of it. The representation of so many things into a small film made it highly emotional ❤

This makes me proud to be African American, and proud to have thick hair.

This was so beautiful. Message. Animation. Everything. When I was a kid, it was 'do your hair yourself, or it will be cut short'. It was lovely to see a family unit with both mom and dad being there for the kid. Sort of wish fulfillment, I guess. Since I didn't have that either.

This reminds me the times my dad tried to do my hair when mom was not home. He messed up but I never refused because he done it with lots of love. I even went to my school with that hair.... I will forever love you dad and I really miss you a lot. I'm just lost without you....

I'd been avoiding this video for months in fear of being disappointed in myself, and while I'm still wiping tears, this video means so much more and I know it'll mean the world to so many others. I really needed this when i was a kid. I recently threw away my straightener not bc its wrong to straighten your hair but bc i felt i had to. I love my curly hair and im tired of people telling me to straighten it

As a man who raised black daughters, I so much identify with this character. I learned the hard way and my daughters have a love/hate relationship with my attempt to do their hair. (especially the eldest one.)

A beautiful more sub-plot-ish part of the message in this short that I love, is the picture of her mom the little girl drew, with a crown on her bald head. Hair already means so much to a black woman’s experience, but it was a passion of this mother’s before cancer treatments made her lose her hair, maybe even a career for her through those tutorials. So for her daughter to tell her so definitively, you’re as beautiful now as you’ve ever been, even without hair, was probably so helpful to her healing, and repairing her self confidence. ❤ This short is so sweet.
