I love the point you made about why you relate to ABGs!! I actually wrote a paper about this for school-- I pointed out how the ABG culture is really an act of defiance against the Asian culture and the suppression of women. Because we feel so suppressed by our family's culture, we take every opportunity we get to represent exactly the opposite of what a "submissive" woman is expected to represent in Asia (light makeup, natural hair, modest clothing, etc.). We flip all of those norms around and wear provocative clothing, glamorous makeup, and we dye our hair a flashy color. I wouldn't consider myself exactly and ABG but I'm definitely somewhere in the middle and I completely agree and relate to everything you said.

Yessssssssssss shout out to you Steph for 1) always pushing for sex education/positivity/expression but also 2) paying an homage to the OG ABGs! I DIED when you brought out the henny omggg. The OG ABGs were the girls who wore stilettos & bandage dresses but would still beat someone's ass while wearing that. I know most people think of falsies, raves, & bubble tea when they think of ABGs but I am with you when you say it was truly a lifestyle for the ABGs back in the day LOL

i really loved this! because tbh i binge on ABG transformations from time to time, and ik usually those vids are just for the glow up and lighthearted aspects, but it makes me feel weird like not a lot of ppl know about what the ABG girl was ABOUT and growing up also in the Bay area i relate to what you were talking about! i went to hs with them and they were always intimidating even without throwing it down LOL but i used to talk to CT guys cause they were usually chill but surprisingly I didnt befriend an abg girl. But yeah its so interesting how the lifestyle and history of the abg is actually layered eventhough it appears "superficial aesthetics" I kinda wish more ppl knew about the origins and culture behind it, cause its just super interesting!

OMG THank you for embracing the ABG your perspective made me realize how so many women shame other women who don’t fit the good girl standard. Like I’ve seen captions on Insta pics like “If I get called an ABG one more time” or “Don’t call me an ABG” as if it’s a bad thing. That Henny tho lol bring some much memories. I might drink this weekend 🤣😜 but ABG transformation on point. I loved it. I hate wearing lashes. I can never ever get use to it and contacts, I just can’t either. Anything I have to add to my eyes besides makeup is just not for me. It bothers the crap out of me. My mind will be thinking about the lashes and contacts until I take them off. I’m not really good at loading a whole bunch of make up on so I don’t think I can ever transform although I do already have tattoos and long black hair lol
