@@slue9329 Bold of you to assume I don't do my research. The entire movement isn't defined by a few people, black lives matter stands for the outright oppression black people are facing every day. You don't get to be a bigot and decide someone isn't facing discrimination. Do some research. See that black motorcyclists are 4x as likely to be pulled over by cops than white people for weed possession when white people and black people consume weed at similar rates.

Hi Stephanie and friends, please read this! 🤎 I wanted to share some insight on two brands in the video: Juvia's Place and Beauty Bakerie. Please don't support them as they haven't always been supportive of black influencers and people. Please support The Lip Bar, Uoma Beauty, Mented, and so many more instead! Please look to The Honey Pot Co. for Vegan and Cruelty-Free feminine products! These brands have everything these two have and more! (The owner of Uoma even started the #PullUpforChange campaign!) For context, Juvia's Place is known for their terrible customer service and mistreatment of black beauty influences. Juvia's Place snubbed the black influencers who put them on the map, only to stand behind white influences who are known for their extreme racism. (J*) Beauty Bakerie has partnered with Morphe who's known for alignment with known racist influencers and has played into respectability politics in some of their posts. This information has spread around black social channels for the longest but we need our allies to know this as well. As beautiful as their products are, we must hold ourselves accountable for researching these companies, even if they're black owned. If you're looking for good black owned businesses to follow, the one's I've mentioned have lists on their pages. Thank you again for your allyship! 🖤

Stephanie and everyone else's intentions are beautiful, I just don't want them to showcase products from companies that we as black people don't even support. The worst one is definitely JP.

I’m unable to speak for other black people, but I honestly never was offended by her name. In fact, there’s plenty of examples where I prefer the aave version bc to formalize some slang means to deprive the words of their distinct meaning. Using sis, ma, bruh, and the other familial terms of endearment allows them to not be taken literally. I understand that some people will expect the terms to not be adopted by other cultures, but in a multicultural society I believe we are bound to rub off on each other

Girl - color of change doesn't do anything besides petitions; petitions do NOT change minds of stakeholders in the criminal justice system. They are getting way too much money than they need; whereas other nonprofits that do the actual work of organizing, showing up at meetings, litigating, etc. are not. I hope that the more education you get on these issues, you'll learn about more groups that are doing so much more. One that comes to mind near you is Youth Justice Coalition. I really hope this is not just something you and other influencers will care about for the next few months but it will be sustained effort to educate yourself.

One thing you can do is ONLY purchase CBD products from black-owned companies. You and other non-black people have a lot of privilege in being able to easily purchase, advertise, and talk about your MJ/CBD use. You should not be lining the pockets of white venture capitalists who own a lot of CBD companies and are funding the passing of laws that make it harder for black and brown people to own such businesses (and keep people with drug convictions from being able to do this work legally.) Not sure if you'll read anything but hopefully you do.
