Been there with the makeup.. remember when beauty gurus had whole rooms of makeup and drawers upon drawers of palettes? Insane to think about now. I have palettes never used beyond being swatched and in crazy colours I would never use. Think I bought and entire rainbow set of urban decay eyeliner pencils too 😂

If you want to have the best day ever, contact your local battered women shelter and find out if they will let you drop off all that make up for the residents. You may have to meet their rep at another location because they may keep it a secret. The ladies will love it. And you won’t be wasting all that money.

I don’t follow influencers so much but when I was younger I was a sucker for “that looks great on you” by SAs…did you ever fall for that? You get home and you’re like what did I do? It mostly happened on holidays when you’re in holiday mode & then reality hits & no way to exchange it

I too bought those Gucci boots! I found them too heavy to walk around with! Sold them right after that first wear. IMHO its best to get rid of anything that is not working as soon as you realize it, the fresher they are from a store the better off you will be money-wise (lesser of a loss).

Reforming make up addict here, I get carried away by a pretty pallette but I don't buy them much anymore. You could take the Fendi shoes to a bootmaker and see if they can do anything to make the shoes comfortable

Clothing/shoes should not be painful, so I'd definitely recommend that you sell the Fendi shoes. They're lovely, but you'll never truly have the joy of wearing them like you would with other items that don't hurt, and there are plenty of other cute shoes out there to wear. ^_^

Omg, I love the Gucci boots. I have a thing for tacky shoes, just with an all black outfit. I love that you share this with us. I think we've all been influenced to buy things that don't fit our style and sometimes it's easy to feel so bad about it, which we really shouldn't.

Lolol...I bought the denim saddle bag because of you. I ended up never using it and sold it. :) Oh and I bought 2 of the mini-Jodie bags and sold them too....too hard to use.

You can recycle a lot of make up at Superdrug, Boots, Morrisons. A company will break down the component parts (mainly by extracting the metal, plastic) and recycle them. Def don't just put in the bin as it goes straight to landfill even though some can be recycled/ reused.

When I buy something on influence, that I later regret, I always consider how many items I have across all my purchases are "influenced". I have found this useful as I can tell which aesthetic clicks. Now that I know, I am more likely to navigate away and focus on exactly what I want. powder make up can be used so you can give to friends or family, its the liquid makeup such as mascara, foundation that goes off faster since its more of an environment for bacteria.

That SPECIFIC color way of the saddle bag is cute, but I agree that it's hard to style and use. Some influencers do make it look really cute, but not enough that I've been tempted. NGL I kinda like the Gucci boots, but I'm very average height.

Actually a funny story! I was influenced by Sophie to purchase a Chloe coat from Farfetch, which turned out to be a fake! Luckily 5 months of back and forth and me providing evidence by taking photos in a Chloe shop, Farfetch did allow me to return the coat.

Sympathy. During Covid I bought some high-end makeup that I never would normally have bought. The Gucci was terrible; the Charlotte Tilbury so, so; and the Chantecaille; the Clé de Peau and the Lisa Eldridge stuff was very good but ridiculously expensive. Never again. One Gucci product, face powder, went into the bin at L'Occitane.

I was inspired by another KZfaqr to clean out my closet & sell stuff I don’t use or wear anymore. My saddle bag was one of them.

When I first started watching KZfaq I was really into the beauty community as well. My son’s girlfriend at the time loved makeup and so I started too. I was very influenced to buy brands that Sephora sells. I did buy much more than I needed and much more than I used. Now I stay very minimal when it comes to makeup. Then I started watching luxury channels. Of course a lot more money can be spent if influenced here. I’m pretty sure most of the items I’ve bought I’ve been influenced to buy. I wouldn’t even know half of the brands or items if I hadn’t watched luxury channels. Now I know them all.😂😂😂 Every bag, slg or shoes I’ve bought I love so no complaints so far. I also don’t buy a lot so don’t regret any money I’ve spent.

Love the Dior denim!! Its so In in 2024… just bring the Dior tote along when you wear it!! I Love the Gucci boots… they look comfy!! You could always sell them but I love them for snow. I would do a big white bag with them with red and green gucci ribbon down the front, lol.

Hi Sophie! Like you, I have been influenced to purchase products in fashion, skin care, and/or make-up. Oftentimes, it has been great, but a few times the purchased item was a bomb. If the influencer is someone I trust and they are not just trying to sell me the product (like a paid advertisement), I am more willing to make the purchase. It's all about respecting the influencer for being a person of high character, integrity, and honesty. With that being said, I know myself well, and even if I absolutely trust the influencer, I may know the product is just not for me. lol I bought a vintage medium Chanel classic flap because of your influence! I really like it, but it certainly wasn't worth the price I paid 😅 It's just a tad too small for what I prefer to carry around on the type of nights I would wear it and I don't like that it can't comfortably be worn crossbody, but I'm mostly glad I bought it, since I managed to get a decent price on it when the prices were starting to skyrocket for new ones. I like how weighty and secure it feels with the second flap and turnkey lock; however, I don't always feel the safest wearing it, since the Chanel logo is so well known. I tend to save it for nights at nice local restaurants and have stopped wearing it into the city.

I have old makeup but I just use it. If not, I give it to family that doesn't mind ancient makeup ahaha. I don't throw away eyeshadow or face powders because they're powder and I don't find any issue using them past the best before date. 🤷‍♀️

Thank you so much for your honesty I haven’t bought any of the handbags you mentioned because when i looked at the bags i saw same issues you mentioned . Of course after learning my lesson being influenced by gucci and lv. I have some gucci and lv bags that I honestly can’t look at them without feeling nauseous. Tried to sell them, but i would end up losing too much money. Not the best time to sell. ❤

Sophie, I wonder if you could take those cute Fendi shoes to a cobbler and see if they could remove a bit of the foam or insert inside the shoe to make more space in there so your foot doesn't rub against that part as much?

idk i weirdly kinda like the boots. they don't really fit in my wardrobe, though, but i could see them being the centerpiece of the outfit for someone who wears punkier clothes. i kinda semi regret these gucci platforms i bought (cassie thorpe influenced it). i do get some use out of them, but i can't wear them places where i know i'm going to have to walk or stand for long hours. So my cost per wear is currently really low.

I think it is easier to be influenced when you are younger. Luckily I didn’t have much money in my late 20s since I went back to college. I would have regretted a lot of bags lol. Hi Sophie I have the Fendi sneakers, I think the inner fabric edge of ur shoe is curing inwards, I don't know how to explain it properly but make sure the two white lines crossing are flat once you wear the shoes. I found that's the only time it hurts for me, and I have wide feet. You can also line them with shoe pads

Hi Sophie, I had the same issue with all the makeup I use to have. I recommend if you've really not touched it at all, maybe give it to a family member. If I was 16 I would love an eyeshadow palette to muck around with. But if its older than 3 years and/or you've dipped into it, please throw it away. You can get a bad eye infection from eye products. And you may find the formula has changed too after a while, might be a bit patchy, not blending. And also I have a great tip when deciding if you should part w a ag or not. Get a few quotes from a few consignment stores, then ask yourslef, would you rather have the money or a the bag?

You shoe story with the Fendi shoes reminds me of a pair of trainers I had that chewed up my heel. I ended up running into a cheap store to buy a pair of casual sneakers just to get through the day, they were a bad choice for my day out with my hubby! I ended up gifting them to a friend who loved them.

I was also influenced to buy the mini Jodie. But I have many bottega bags and know and love the quality. It took me a while to decide but when I saw it in the colour fondant, I had to have it. It is so chic and yes, the zipper is a little difficult, but not an issue for me. Also have the Celine belt, both brands (bottega and Celine) are my favorites. Great quality and silent lux. I find many other luxury brands to be too flashy and/or expensive for the quality. (Or lack of same) 😊

With the bag zip issue, try rubbing a graphite pencil along the zipper teeth. This acts like a lubricant without damaging or gooping up the zipper

I LOVE the Gucci boots! Have them in off-white with grey canvas, and they are literally my all-time favourites, heel hight and all (and I'm 179cm). I feel like they are statement enough to wear with super plain outfits to spice it up but also ok to fit in with more eclectic looks that I love to put together. I could honestly go for a second pair in a different colour scheme ^_^

The hand sanitizer hanging on the book tote scares me! I’m afraid to hang that on any of my high end bags.

I have high arches like you, and I know exactly what you mean about the pain at the top of your foot! In my case, it was a pair of Chloe Woody slides that rubbed the top of my foot so much, I could barely walk. I haven't found a solution yet, unfortunately.😢😢

I think with those Gucci boots you could push it out a bit and wear a completely different colour rather than limiting to white and black, and in fact clashing it with another pattern could work. Maybe it's been too block-like with keeping it black/white

Yup me and my hobo puzzle bag, i love everything about the bag: functionality, leather, how lightweight it is, and the fact that it deceivingly holds so much. But the shape is so long and awkward and i got it in purple lol so i regret it.

Hi Sophie, I empathise about the Fendi shoes. My passion is shoes, but I have developed an arthritic condition in my feet. I purchased a costly pair of sneakers by Roger Vivier, some Etro shoes and ended up giving them to friends in the end. I have to be careful what I buy (the off-the-peg shoes for arthritis sufferers are often ugly, and I won't wear them ...) so I don't waste enormous amounts of money. One way forward (in my case) is to get bespoke or custom-made shoes and have my own lasts made, but it is eye-wateringly expensive. But, yes, it's annoying too when a shoe feels great when you try it on in the store and then uncomfortable when you wear them for longer.

Dior Saddle Bag would drive me crazy. Admired it on others wearing it but odd shaped bags are off limits for me. When a child had round, picnic basket, etc. and found it didn't work for me. Note: your denim DSB is beautiful.

Being tall with heels on does draw stares. There’s shoes I have that make me 6’2” when wearing and I’m slim. People always look, and I hover over so many people as well.😂 I also have a high arch & have the same issues with certain boots. I bought a pair of military boots from Ralph Lauren and the right boot kills me in the same spot. I’ve tried loosening the laces and nothing helps. 😢

So I wear barely beige eye make up, usually. I was influenced to get these flamboyant neon super sparkly duochrome pallets. I wear microscopic amounts of these colors, to try and get some use out of them. Eventually, I thought that I’d make some room and toss most of these palettes. BUT THEN… my daughter got a roll in a grade school play as a parrot! I thought, YES! I’m in business!😅

I bough an anamorphic lens for my camera 😂 not on topic but I have one or two great bags don’t spend much money on makeup but boy if you take me to a photo store I really loose it 😂

re: the fendi shoes and the high arch/top of foot - I've had that happen every time I've bought Chanel loafers! They were so horrifically painful on the top of my foot. I have stopped even trying to buy Chanel shoes because they are just made for feet that are flatter than mine.

Hi Sophie! My understanding is that makeup doesn't last that long. So if you've had it for more than 1 year (maybe 2 if it's not liquid) it's expired and shouldn't be used anymore as it's gathered bacteria. Also, if it's changed its original color.

Whatever doesn't work, just sell it or give away to your funs ! Its Christmas make some of your funs huppy!!!

Saddle bag I'm still to this day on the fence about. I really like the grained leather ones because I feel like it's quite durable and I'm a klutz. Everyone seems to say the same thing about not fitting much because everything slides down so I can't decide 😅 I like that they've added the strap to it in the same leather because that was the biggest thing that was turning me off. I don't like the big bulky guitar strap look on me (looks great on other people!) but I still can't decide. I may do a lady d-joy instead soon if I'm going to spend that much money what's a bit more 😂

I love my Dior tote,just like yours,when traveling in the car I put it behind drivers seat so I can easily reach in and out of it,love it so easy to use. I put my butane hair curler in it,snacks,travel jewerly box, 2 pc pjs shorts rolled up for just stopping overnight, socks,so great. I to have bought a few things I wish I hadn't, one trench coat,not too expensive, a sweat shirt name brand,maybe it will work, in a couple weeks traveling by car,if it doesn't work my god daughter will havd it,not much of a sweatshirt fan,or tshirts with writing on thdm,regret 4 of thdm I bought,gavd away.Oh well it could be worse,I really try to slow xown and think abt what I'm buying. Give your makeup to artists. They use the pigments to create crayons, pastels, paints, dying for clothing and much much more. I'm always looking for old makeup. It's dead handy Why not commission an artist you love to use your makeup to make a cool decor piece for your home? No landfill, new art and also helps the creative process keep going.

Hi Sophie, as always I really enjoyed watching and thank you for you’re honesty. I’m not one for being influenced into what to buy as I don’t particularly want to be one of the herd. As for my makeup I always buy from QVC and should it turn out it’s not for me I just send it back with 60 days and get a full refund.

Chloé Woody Tote in the small size. It will not stand up on its own, spills everything out when you set it down and the quality of the leather strap is very meh.

I am very intentional about buying expensive things like bags but I do tend to get caught up in the makeup hype. If you haven’t used your makeup palettes why not donate them? There’s always someone out there who will love them. Liquids tend to go manky after a few years but powers like eyeshadow will last for ages. I have had eyeshadows and blushes for 20 years and they are still fine.
