I played a few extras in this series. Mostly cops,emt. I never had a speaking part. Even tho I’m a nobody. I was a nyc firefighter by career but also worked for central casting and had my own nypd uniform as well as fdny firefighter uniforms because I was a cop for 2 years and a firefighter for 18. I always wanted to be an actor but I just never felt I had what it takes inside. Especially to work along side superstars like the entire sopranos cast. Rip Jim I’ll never forget your kind heart and taking my family out and spending time with us. Maybe one day I’ll give misner acting a shot in your memory I’ll do a piece of tony S. We miss u
@LLOOYYYDD4 жыл бұрын
As an extra I've read / heard / been told you're not allowed to talk to the cast, is that right? If they break character, you have to stay in character?
@Rusty_trombone624 жыл бұрын
Does Barry Manilow know you raid his wardrobe Jim would come over to the extras and invite you to eat from the main cast lunch table. But yes if you want to be successful then do not make any contact with any talent on set. Jim found out that I was a real firefighter and he came to express condolences (this was about 13 months post 9/11). And once we started talking the rest was history. Honestly if I didn’t have 15 years vested in fdny I would have taken his advice and took a class in Meisner acting and he would have gotten me work. But I figured I’d wait till I had 20 years with fdny , retire with my pension and full benefits. Then take an acting workshop and see where it lands for me. But a few months after I retired I developed wtc asthma which evolved into chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. So that dream is over. But I swear it when I tell you that Jim was literally one of the nicest people I ever knew. Forgetting about his talent. I’m just talking about the man himself. He was a true gentleman. But yes you’re right. Never go near the main cast unless you’re invited and make sure someone else also sees one of the main talent calling you over. Because I heard sometimes the main cast gets board and will do obnoxious shit like get your attention and get you in trouble with the director. I heard of guys getting kicked off law and order svu because of that. But I wish you luck. I hope you land a role in something. We need some new faces on tv.

This was a TV show with a high quality movie feel, you don't see that very often. Outstanding cinematography. The shots at Dr Melfi's office, general photography, the criteria of the tracking shots... Great sound editing (@1:29 you can see what they actually do) Very solid scripts. Unlike other shows, not condescending or indulging with the audience at all And the cast... they are unbelievable: Edie Falco IS Carmela Soprano and James Gandolfini is a top notch performer who says "the best thing is working with these people" and then he wraps at 1AM; professional and humble... And then the great Michael Imperioli who even _manuged_ to write some episodes Best TV show ever, 20 years and no one got even close to this. No disrespect ✋🏻🤚🏻

I know everyone always talks about how good of an actor James was, but Edie Falco was easily just as good, and her acting abilities are only getting better as time goes on. An example of this is her show Nurse Jackie, which she really shows off her skill. While I don't think it's as good of a show as The Sopranos, it's still a very good show and definitely worth a watch.

I was in the Air Force stationed in Japan when The Sopranos first came out. I found out about it when I went home on leave summer of 99. I then went and did a year in Saudi Arabia and then had to go provide support in Italy early 2001. I took some leave to travel around Italy and ended up buying The Sopranos 1st season DVD set. Had no idea what to expect and I sure didn't have a very long attention span. Anyway, I watched the 1st episode..took a break and then decided to try the 2nd episode. After that I was hooked enough to watch all 13 episodes in 2 days.
