some more comparisons that I didn't notice when putting this together: his up tilt is based on the laser dome deflection animation rather than DDD windmill attacks, he has sliding dash as his dash attack, and most importantly, the KH style finisher slowdown happens ingame when Sora defeats an opponent i also went with KH3 blizzard specifically because its the only blizzaga that has ever inflicted freeze as a status effect, at least without being a weird landmine like in Days

He finally managed to land in a new game without forgetting all his abilities!

Sora's Floatiness comes from the amount of fans that's really happy that their Dreams they believed in came true.

You forgot his dash attack which is KH1 sliding dash ( but to be fair Sakurai also forgot to mention the move lol). Also Sora's back throw is a reference to Larxene "murge" reaction command from KH2 and I think his forward throw is the first hit from his KH1 air combo.

I still can't believe Sora is really in Smash. Sakurai-San, you and your whole team are my heroes for this!

This is pretty good. The only thing I disagree with is Blizzard. It seems more like the KH1 shotgun blast than 3's big projectile.

dash attack is slide dash from kh1, sakurai doesnt mention it, but he uses it when he was talking about follow ups after firaga.

My only gripe is that his counter isn't reflect but thats so minor that I don't really mind in the end

Hearing Sora's voice go from "prepubescent boy" to "grown-ass adult trying his darndest to sound like a teenager" is pretty funny.

What's crazy is that Sora looks like how he does in the CG videos for the KH games, like in the intros and the secret endings and whatnot

I was a bit bothered that he had a counter but then I remembered how his guard worked in KH and to be honest I understood why they did it, it works quite well.

the opener on his side tilt autocombo is also Slapshot! it's amazing how much detail they put into Sora

I think his back throw is based off of the throw you can perform on heavy enemies when in flowmotion in 3D I think...

If Sakurai negotiated with Disney and studied the Kh lore, then he really wanted to get Sora into Smash

They did such an amazing job 😭 the alternate outfits , all the attacks! They gave sora all the attacks from all of the other games !!! Holy shit ✊🏻🔥 I’m so glad they didn’t just recolor the kh1 sora outfit for the alternate outfits.

You know, I think it's funny that Sonic Blade is such an iconic move for Sora that it made it into Smash, when in KH Sora originally learned the move from Cloud, who is also in Smash but it's not actually a move he uses in FF7 or Smash and was made for him to specifically use in KH

Combo Master is how sora is able to continuously attack without having to hit an enemy it’s a modern ability that they also included in the HD remix of KH1, hence the combo string in the air without actually hitting anything I wonder if Sakurai knew that before hand

His Up Tilt is actually from the beginning of Tornado from ReCoM.

But seriously, I've never seen a character that is so geared toward hyper-aggressive chasing someone off the stage and *then recovering anyway.* If Sora is super light and easy to launch, has a counter, and has crazy recovery options... the intended playstyle looks like "Just Don't Get Hit" and "Chase People Like They Have 1 Stock, Forever"

I think my favorite thing not mentioned here is the fact that his back throw is the reaction command he uses to slam Larxene's clones back together

His up tilt might be a reference to the neo shadow reaction command in kh2

the only thing im guessing for 0:19 is that is that reaction command in kh2 when he fights Xemnas and hes in that dome. i can't think of any other moment where sora did anything like that tbh x- x

Within the constrains of being based on KH1 and no Disney, I really think his Final Smash could've been Ars into Ragnarok. I get wanting to showcase the whole keyblade locking thing, but Ars and Ragnarok are some of the most iconic parts of KH1 Sora's moveset, and they could easily be combined into a single Final Smash.

Honestly I really love how much attention to detail they put into Sora’s moveset by considering his moveset from the games. Makes me realize they must have spent a while even thinking and considering this kind of stuff, which makes me appreciate the Smash team even more for that. They did a bang up job with him in Smash

People talked shit about Magic Flash but I always predicted it would be his up-smash. I do wish they used more of his kh2 and 3 moves, though. Like his down smash could've been explosion, his forward smash could've been last charge, and his final smash could've been ars. But I guess I can't complain too much, it's crazy he's even in smash to begin with

I'm a little sad his down smash wasn't explosion, hands down one of the most satisfying attacks to both see and hear in kh2

I'm really glad they based his design and most of his moveset from KH 1 as I feel his Kh 1 design is more iconic and the more rememberable of his movesets besides KH 2

i think that up tilt is kinda a pull, feels similar to the move he does against skoll in 3 but thats a pull too.

I just checked the footage from the presentation (where Sora fights against Cloud and Sephiroth) and can confirm that his dodge roll ability is also present exactly where you think it would be.

I like how since hes a younger sora and his smashes are used by a older soras, they look like early versions he was still working on. like for example his up smash looks like he gets pushed off balance while his kh3 version can use it in the air with ease.

His counter is also similar to KH3'S counter slash.

I like that they kept the overall theme for Sora as KH1.

Personally would've preferred to have Zantetsuken as the counter attack, but oh well. still cool to see him there
