This program has been tested on MacOS - Apple iMac Big Sur release.
Python 3.11 for running the program.
brew install exiftool for looking up the dates of the pictures.
And you need to do a pip3 install of a few Python modules.
And then you run this program from terminal once you get all the file paths where you want them.
The pictures are automatically sorted to your login name.
So you name might be /Users/samantha on your mac.
The pictures would end up in /Users/samantha/sorted_pictures
With new folders with the year and month.
The pictures will get renamed to date_time_location IF this can be figured out from the
EXIF data located IN the picture.....
=======
I have had pictures saved on all sorts of computers for years. When that computer dies the pictures get sent to the newer computer. What a mess.
And all sorts of duplicates!
What if you could figure out the dates on the pictures and WHERE they were taken?
In some pictures the DATE and the LOCATION are encoded in the actual picture itself!
======
Sort piles of pictures on your computer to dated folders and dates and times and location of picture.
A python program does most of the work.
